I didn't see a regular thread for this but perhaps there should be a sticky thread for people to share their experiences of being duped so that others can learn from their experiences.

I bought an hermes birkin bag from Reebonz who I thought was a well reputed store but to be doubly sure I sent it into hermes for a repair and after many months hermes emailed stating that it fake. Well their wording is 'it's not made by Hermes Paris' and they have confiscated the bag but will be forwarding a letter of some sort explaining the situation to me.

So to all out there, be careful when purchasing because even ostensibly 'well reputed' stores sell fakes so always send your stuff into the actual sttore if you can to authenticate!

yeah it's part of the contract you sign when you put it in for repair. they do they they will provide me with a letter and on the contract they say they alert police which is good because God knows how many other people have been scammed. So far I have received an email from my local store confirming it's fake and they will provide with an 'expertise' letter soon. This explains why it's taken so many months and i didn't even get a quote for the cost of repair

thanks everyone for the positive replies. i'm reasonably hopefuly as reebonz has replied already and once I get the hermes letter I can forward to them. the only perturbing thing was when I phoned reebonz to tell them about the issue they seemed really indifferent about the whole thing and starting quoting me how everything they have is authentic as if to say i'm making it up. luckily, hermes has a good procedure to deal with this. i'm just bummed about the bag

I’m so sad to read that a store has sold you a fake bag but not surprised, because I’ve heard these horrible fakes can be very well made. Even reputed auction houses seem to have problems identifying the fakes. I hope that with the involvment of Hermès you will be able to get a complete refund. Thank you so much for sharing this. I buy all my bags from Hermès and will do so in future too. If Reebonz wishes to be in business they should take care of this matter swiftly once the documentation is provided.

unfortunately, i don't have any personal photos of the bag as I bought it from reebonz and then took it to hermes for repair and they have confiscated. i am by no means an expert on hermes but i thought it was a good sign when the SA took it in for repair but perhaps birkins are so rare that even SAs might miss spotting a fake. unfortunately, i did attempt to get it authenticated here at PF but because i'm not a very active member i wasn't within the rules to get an authentication which is fair enough i guess

i totally agree but after a trip to paris last year and going 3 days consecutively to the flagship store we didn't have any luck in getting a birkin
i now worry about whether my partner's other birkin (which i bought from a daikokuya store in Japan) is real

i had no idea that reebonz had this reputation. i tried to do some due diligence and thought reebonz was decent but i guess it's a learning lesson. if only birkins weren't near impossible to get from the actual store!
