Hmm.. he wants to wear his wedding band before the actual nuptials? :confused1:
Does he maybe want his own engagement ring? lol :lawl:

I personally wouldn't wear my wedding band until we actually get married! :shrugs:

I still like the Legacy more than the Novo on me. The Legacy is my dream ring! But I wonder if I should even look at the ribbon ring again once I'm there. I want to be thorough! I believe I did try one on and it was nothing special. But the Legacy is amazing........... JMO!

The Legacy also looks so much bigger than it is. Do you think it will look dated in 10 years? They're pretty popular right now. But I plan an upgrade in the future anyway. Might as well take advantage of the Tiffany upgrade plan. I do tire of things so I most likely will get the best Legacy I can afford. Then see if I want to stay with that style when I upgrade - I can always switch to something else.

JMO--the cushion cut in diamonds (which the legacy is a version of a cushion cut, and to me, seems more simialr to the antique cushion than the novo) has been around for more than 100 years--much longer than the modern round brilliant cut. So, for me, (IMO) it won't look dated--unless of course someone thinks it looks "so 1830s" lol. I think today's settings may look dated in 10-20 years. However, who knows what trendy/popular cut will be around in ten years. It's hard to predict what will be a popular cut then. I often wonder if something will come along (a better round cut) to replace the modern round brilliant. Just a thought.

If you are planning on keeping your original engagement ring (which some men prefer that you do, even if you get a different ring later), then I would buy what you love without regard to how popular it will be in the future. The only time I would consider future popularity/value (which is difficult to predict, at best) is if I knew I was trading it in--. Who knows if they will be producing the Legacy cut in 10 years. It's so hard to keep up with the number of "new" cuts coming on the market. If the Legacy is the cut you absolutely love now, I would buy that one.:smile1:

Just got some prices over phone in case others are interested:

round Legacy - none available less than 1 carat so 1 carat (G color) is $15,700
reg Legacy - G, VS1 99 pt is $15,100
82 pt Embrace H color VS2 is $9,400
1 carat Embrace H color VS2 is $14,000

Thanks so much ladies. Ok so I think I have narrowed it down to the Legacy or the Brilliant Round, if anyone has pics of either please post.

On a side note FH wants to wear his wedding band when we get it in a few weeks but we aren't getting married for about another two years (unless we move the wedding date up). For the wedding day would you recommend him just taking it off and giving it back when we exchange our vows? Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

First of all, congratulations on your engagement! I posted in another thread (where another man wanted an "engagement ring") that I had a friend whose fiance (now DH) wanted a ring to show he was "taken" too--lol. Actually, it's sort of sweet, I think. (On a side note, my DH did not make such a request:thinkin::laugh:). In her case, she did give him his wedding band early and he did give it back (a few days before, I guess) to use at the actual ceremony.

But they were a bit older than you are, and only engaged for about a year. I hope FH doesn't tire of wearing that band before the wedding takes place.:p Just kidding. Again, it's very sweet, I think.

My husband actually wore his wedding band before our wedding. I think he liked the idea of letting everyone know that he was taken. It was actually quite endearing. He actually wore it for his bachelor party weekend, which I thought was kind of funny (Apparently his friends took him around to various bars and a strip club and nobody believed he was the bachelor since he had his ring on, lol).

If your FI does wear his ring, I would just recommend having it polished before the wedding, as my DH's ring was a little scratched up by our wedding day (and we were only engaged 7 months).

Hokaplan-thanks for the prices. What does pt stand for?
La Comtesse-Thank you. I totally agree that the Legacy is a very classy cut, that most likely will never go out of style. I absolutely love the design. I think it's so sweet that FH wants to wear his wedding band early. He's so excited about it, I love it.
NY Village Girl- I think FH also likes the idea of letting everyone know he is taken. That's great he wore it for his bachelor party, and that no one knew that he was the bachelor, that's hilarious. That's a good idea to have it polished before the wedding, I never thought about that before.

hey hokaplan, your probably busy with you party/picnic. Hope it is going well. Wow 70 teens that a lot. I'm not sure. I guess I need to go see everything in person to see if I can notice a big difference between the color gradings. What are you going for?

They just left! Now is the clean-up! My regular SA isn't in tomorrow or Thursday. The manager is going to show me a few rings on Thursday. I was leaning towards a "D" color but they are literally thousands more than "G" or "H" so I'll have to see. Must help my husband clean now.
