I just purchased a round brilliant diamond and am having a hard time deciding which setting it will look the best with!
1) A simple 6 prongs solitaire
2) with pear side diamonds
3) with round side diamonds
4) with a cushion halo
5) other ... please post a picture!

Are you planning on wearing it with a wedding band? I prefer a solitaire with a wedding band or a three stone with pear sides if you're wearing it alone. All gorgeous choices!

Hmm.... I am thinking probably not with a wedding band unless it's an evening out, so no, I want the engagement ring to stand out.

I think it depends on your style. For me, simple solitaire with thin band fits best my tee-over-jeans comfort. I'm attaching a couple of modelling pix, mine is a very simple 4-prong martini setting. I like Tiffany, Leon Mege, Mark Morell (Petite Torchiere and Petite Sunburst styles) solitaires

I kept trying to attach files but didn't seem to work...Sorry

I like a classic solitaire if I could have a 3+ carat, but I love a delicate halo for your size stone... I guess I'm biased! :p

This is an example of a halo that is VERY well done. It's probably my favorite round halo. Ever. It belongs to frankiextah and is a Victor Canera. Of course it's a 3 carat, but I love the proportions.

Yea Frankie has a nice halo, for sure. She does definitely want spread and presence on her hand though. So if that is what you want, to maximize presence, a halo can help, but so can the right proportions in a 3 stone (ie sides not too big)

I love pears next to an RB, but I love mine more. I prefer a nice sized stone paired w/ a really delicate pave band. I love the contrast of the heavy stone w/ the delicate band.

nice problem to have!
