We are twins dear etoile and I am a total DA nut! I have to catch up with last nights episode still! LOVE the 120 fandarole, It is the perfect length in my mind. I nearly went for the 140 but it was so darn heavy. Looks fab on you and I am sorry to read about the Echec. I thought for sure it would be a winner for you.

Thank you lanit, and so fun to be twins with you on the Farandole. :smile1: I certainly now understand its loyal following, as I love it even more today, than I did yesterday! Regarding Downton Abbey, I'll be going into mourning soon, when this season ends. Perhaps another trip to H will be in order then, purely for medicinal purposes! ;) Regarding the CSGM Echec, unfortunately, I found 'rose poudre' to be a dark flesh color that just did not make my heart sing.

Oooh, the Lift pendant is so exciting in color, etoile, and the horn pattern on the back of yours is exquisite. Must check out these new colors. My black pendant got Lifted (sorry, couldn't resist :amuse:) by DD, with my permission as I'd gotten other horn necklaces. She swears that she uses it all the time. Here's an action picture, though not with a 90 scarf this time. As I recall, the trick is in adjusting the lengths of the scarf and the pendant so the're not on top of each other. ;)

pierina, I thought of you when I bought my new green Lift! I also long for one in pale turquoise, or pale blue, as I love blues and browns together. Your daughter looks gorgeous in your 'shared' black Lift! I think you are right...the pendant or scarf worn short, and the other worn long, looks best.

Great outfit! I've never seen Eperon d'Or in this cw--love it! And yes, I am a huge DA fan. You look very elegant...as always.

Sorry to hear the Echec du Roi GM didn't work out for you. That's about the only pattern this season that intrigues me, and I haven't seen a cw yet that's doing anything for me, which is a good thing for a change.

Thanks so much VnSoie! Yes, I had high hopes for the Echec, but so far, I'm not fining a colorway to love. As you noted, probably a good thing, especially as the Farandole 'insisted' on coming home with me! ;)

Wow, Chestnutty, thank you for sharing all of this great knowledge about the details of this scarf. Turandot is one of my very favorites - the first scarf I bought in "doubles" - the aubergine you have and the red. It is still one of my faves. You've inspired me to pull it out to wear this week, thank you!! ;)

Happy Lunar New Year my silk friends! Wish everyone a silky smooth new year!

My contribution to this week is my (again) Turandot scarf! Favorite formal Asian scarf!
IMG_4474c.jpg

I simply adore this scarf as it has many Asian symbols.
The peach flowers: Peach flower is the traditional must-have flower for the Lunar New Year in my hometown. Every single household has it in their house during the first 15 days on the new year. It represents good luck, beauty, and prosperity.
IMG_4674-1.jpg

And the flowers in real life

The 8-shaped jar (a popular object in South Eastern fairy tales, often seen on heavenly places) with a Chinese character (that literally means double-happiness, I believe, often seen at weddings as a symbol of marriage).

Beautiful flowers with the two butterflies wandering around. A pair of butterflies often means a happy romantic relationship. Many Asian stories mention that couples who are in love, when they die they will turn into butterflies so that they can travel together for good.

Lotus: a symbol of purity and Buddhism.

The carp (fish) and the turtle: Long story short, in many Southeast Asian culture, carp fishes symbolize the courage and enduring strong will that eventually will become fruitful and pay off, i.e. people who dare to try will prevail (like the prince in the Turandot opera). In some traditional Asian fairy tales, an ordinary carp fish was believed to be able to pass the very strong and challenging waves to reach the heaven's gate, and subsequently transformed into a dragon.
Turtle: an animal that is believed to live thousands of years, hence symbolizes longevity. Same with peaches (people who eat peaches from heaven's gardens will gain immortality).

Dragon: symbolizes the king/queen and his direct family. Pomegranates symbolize fertility.

Phoenix (at the upper left hand corner of the scarf) represents people born with noble blood.

All in all, my own interpretation of this scarf is that just like the Turandot story, people who dare to overcome challenges will be able to win their love and live happily ever after with their beloved.

Scrumptious colors, etoile, so very chic. Love, love, love your new necklace and your Eperon d'Or in these pale colors. I resisted the Farandole for a long time - by not ever trying it on - but once I did the 160 came home at once. Isn't it fun to play with the toggle? There are so many ways to wear it.

Another DA fan here and last night it seemed that they all had long necklaces on!

Many thanks pierina! Yes, so in love with my Farandole. I don't think its beauty is easily captured in photos. For anyone interested, don't try one on unless you're prepared to bring one home! arabesques accurately predicted that once I'd slipped one around my neck, I'd be buying one. ;) And yes, all the fashionable Downton Abbey ladies are wearing those wonderfully long necklaces! :smile1: Sending get well wishes to your husband.

Etoile, everything looks so lovely :)

Thank you so much, jp_536!

Jahna, I missed you and am so glad everyone is on the mend. Just in time to enjoy spring in good health hopefully.
Sparkle, glad to hear you are feeling better. I was in bed from Friday through Wednesday and still don't feel 100%.
Pierina, I love that horn pendant on your DD. it looks so simple and classic. Give DH my best wishes and stay healthy yourself.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Maedi!

Here's my story for this week's theme. My best friend and I met the day I was moving into the dorm, my freshman year of college. My parents were helping me move stuff from car to room, and as I was making one trip from into the hall, there was this girl! This girl, so bouncy and confident, it seemed to me, with long, silky brown hair and smiling eyes. She said, "Hi! My name's (your new best friend)." That was August of 1982. She's my son's godmother and I'm her daughter's godmother, and I don't know how I'd have made it this far without her.

For our 30th "anniversary" last summer, I gave her an Aux Pays des Epices that I had hunted down. She's not one for labels or expensive goods, but I wanted to treat her and enable her to enjoy something luxurious. She's a wonderful cook, and some of our fun times have been cooking together in her kitchen.

She is an artist. I mentioned to her a few weeks ago that I'd read a review about a show at MOMA by Azin Valy, out of which had come a line of scarves, featuring aerial views of some of the world's great cities. A couple of weeks ago, in the midst of all the boloney going on my world, the Fedex man met me in the driveway early one morning with a delivery. I emailed her quickly "!!!!" after I saw the return address. Then, when I got to the office, I had to go straight into a meeting. Another email: 'Suspense: Rome or Paris....' We had discussed both, my favoring the colors of both city's scarves, as well as both cities. She responded, "I chose the city you've loved longer." That told me the answer: Rome. Herewith, a non-H lovely silk chiffon aerial view of Rome (with the Colosseum front and center, I just noticed)! This is a poor photograph; the scarf is a lovely fuschia, with greys. What a thoughtful gift, from a very thoughtful friend.

I love your story VnSoie, and what a thoughtful gift! Your scarf reminds of the Nolli plan/map of Rome. :smile1: I love most anything depicting plans and maps!

Oh Etoile, you look gorgeous. You wear grey/whites and blues so well.
jp 536,I to just bought a GM and silk 90 in the same cw because I love the design so much and you know, if Pierina says yes, it's yes with me too!!
Seton, here is my rendition of your fabulous look yesterday, and with one of my favorite designs. Astrologie!! The sun is the literary eye of God and to think of her gaze and golden arms around me gives me strength!

Thank you sparkle! :smile1: You're looking so lovely in your Astrologies. These two look so beautiful together!

I'm off to a dentist appointment, so I will come back later to comment on all of the silk loveliness I have been seeing. I try not to play favorites with my scarves, so I have to say that ALL of them are my favorite. Here is a new favorite of mine: PHOTO FINISH in the green colorway. I bought this at my Hermes store, but it can also be found on H.com US site. (I've added some pics of a green enamel bangle which is a newly purchased treasure along with a pair of Isthme horn/lacquer earrings in green which had to come home with me as well. ;) The last pic is in honor of FAT TUESDAY! (The way I've been eating lately has become "Fat Tuesday" every day.) This scarf, Creole Jazz, came to live with me a few months ago when my dear aunt's friend was pairing down her closet for a move. She knew how much I love Hermes scarves, so this one, along with three others (Concerto, Kachinas, and Fluer et Fauna) are part of my Hermes family. :smile1: Happy Eating Day to everyone!!!!

Congratulations Ladybaga, on your new scarves, and jewelry! I just popped over to H.com to have a look of your Photo Finish, shown flat. What a fun design! Thanks so much for sharing. :smile1: And my sister and I joke about our 'birthday weekends', but I think your idea of extending it to a 'birthday season' is a much better idea! ;)

This is breathtakingly gorgeous! etoile, you are like a heavenly cloud. You must remember this entire outfit so that you can wear it again and again and again and again....... I love this on you!

Sending many thanks, Ladyb, very sweet of you! Once I posted the photo, I thought, hmmm...I need a belt strap in etoupe or grey for this ensemble! :sneaky:

I need to comment on all the beauties I missed, but here is my actual SOTD (pardon the poor office lighting), which is my contribution to this week's theme.
I bought this scarf last year at the Madison Ave boutique with my best friend - we've always enjoyed shopping together, and even though she doesn't share the H love (yet), she happily goes scarf shopping with me. And I love to bring her along because she is so honest about what looks good on me or doesn't, so I can resist the SA's pressure (and laugh if the scarf really looks terrible on me!)
So there you have it, Point d'Orgue in the weave knot (haven't mastered the friendship knot yet, but still think of my friend when I wear it)

sophie, your Point d'Orgue looks lovely as tied! And how fun that you had your dear friend along, when you purchased it.

I just love this look, etoile! The neutral classic scarf, the Farandole (congrats), the Muse belt. Swoon.

Many thanks, so nice of you! :smile1:

Thank you so much, etoile! Glad to know someone else likes to celebrate birthdays like I do! :D Your ensemble is absolutely beautiful as is, but I can see why you would want an etoupe belt. (I can always justify more Hermes! :graucho:)
By the way, did I see that you have an Isthme green pendant?
If so, between my earrings and your pendant, we have a set!!

Dear Ladyb, I just bought a green Lift pendant. :smile1: The lacquer color is 'Vert Intense', and it's a grass green. The color of your earrings looks to be a beautiful green, as well! Now I'd love a scarf with browns and greens, and of course I thought of your gorgeous "Pois de Soie", Etole Mousseline. Likely long gone!

We are always on the hunt, for sure! Yes, I do recall the beautiful vert intense of your lift along with your gorgeous Jungle Love dip dye. That is such a perfect pairing! Thanks for reminding me of my mousseline. I need to pull everything out to see what matches the earrings. :smile1:

beautiful story. thx for sharing.

I didnt even realize that u were wearing 2 scarves since u tied them so seamlessly. It's perfect.

I'm off to a dentist appointment, so I will come !

every time I think blue is your color, I see you in green or orange and then I realize that they are all your colors. all wonderful.

Beautiful silks, seton! I love how you have . . . . .!

ty, Baga!

Thanks for posting the Sichuans, oh exhausted seton. :sweatdrop: :woohoo: I am still voting for the more natural c/w. 2010 looks like the landscape needs fertilizer, or has lethal yellowing...

your DD is so gorgeous. youre such a sweet mum to give her a Lift.
as for my exhaustion, your feedback is definitely helping. :sweatdrop:;)

seton - love your two silks and story. You look amazing and fresh in the silvery blues.

Today is for our lovely Etoile who asked about pendants and silks. Seton has shown hers off in her post in such an elegant way. Isthme pendant and lucky red CMSC with quince blossoms from my garden.

ty, lanit. Your look is very romantic and perfect for this wk. You always look so beautiful in red that I tried on this GM just bc of your pic. I think I looked ok in it but red just doesnt give me the emotional lift that blue does so I went w/ blue as usual.

So perhaps a bit over-accessorized today, I'm wearing my Eperon d'Or silk twill, with my Muse belt, and my new Farandole! Any other Downton Abbey fans? I love seeing the younger ladies in the third season wearing their flapper ensembles. The Farandole in this length reminds me of their wonderfully long necklaces.

I dont think your look is too much. You are showing off your new Farandole beautifully. Congrats! :smile1:
