I've been thinking about how best to answer my own question, "What makes an Annie scarf an Annie scarf?"
To me, it's how she deals with texture. Her scarves that contain beads or hardware are incredibly three dimensional. Looking at so many Tresors Retrouves this week and examining my own Reve de Corail, the beads and coral looks real enough to pick up. I mean, look at the shadows on Corail - that right there is a work of art!
You can also see her genius with texture on her textile scarves. There is so much detail in the "fabric" of scarves like Voyage en Etoffes and Sur un Tapis Volant, and though not cloth, Les Domes Celestes shows exquisite detail as well. I hope Textilegirl won't mind me reposting a picture of her, but since she hasn't been around this week, I thought her Sur un Tapis Volant still deserved some air time. Plus, it perfectly shows off Annie Faivre's talent with textiles!
