If it has to be Tiffany, then I'd go with the key! It's versatile in that it goes with everything, plus you can wear it either as a pendant or on a bracelet.

As nice as the DBTY is, I second emchhardy's suggestion to look at Brian Gavin - for the same price you can get a bigger, sparklier diamond.

Hello everyone! My birthday is coming up in a few weeks and my boyfriend and mom have decided to let me pick out something in rose gold from Tiffany. ( so lucky and excited! ) I only own SS pieces with the exception of one YG. I am turning 20 so I want something young feeling but still something I can wear for years to come. DBF likes the key on the oval link chain and so does my mom :) but I also like the initial S pendant and the rose gold DBTY .14

Let me know which one you prefer or if you have another favorite rose gold piece.

I will be in the minority and say the Elsa Peretti alphabet charm. I think that is truly timeless. There never not a time that initial jewelry has been "in". I grew tired of the key and the dbty as time went on. I ended up selling them and then got a larger DBTY. But eventually I still desired a larger one lol. I personally think that if you want a dbty in that price range that you should try a different brand as suggested above.

Plus with the alphabet charm you can layer other jewelry as the years go on.

Thank you for your opinion! I do feel like the DBTY is very small and not as showy for the price range. And the initial would be unique to me! I like the style the letters are done in, a little more unique than most I've seen.

Another option for initial jewelry is Helen Ficalora. What's fun about her line is that you can pick your initial charm and then do corresponding charms with it. I believe she carries rose gold.
I do think the Elsa Peretti initial pieces are lovely though. I think it just depends on the letter. Some are more interesting/unique than others. My initial I wasn't in love with in that collection - the "M".

Yes exactly, its a beautiful script. Unique in my eyes. And later on you could add a showier DBTY. From Tiffanys or from a different brand, you can have fun with it. ;)

DBTY hands down. I've had mine for over 2 years and wear it almost daily. It's goes with everything and is so simple but elegant. It is definitely a piece that will transition with you. :)

Thank you for everyone's opinions, they really help! I'm honestly leaning towards the key right now but I plan on trying all three pieces on in store before I make a decision, because I know that can make a huge difference! It's like.. I like one thing about this necklace but this other thing about the other.. Oh first world problems!

Happy birthday and nice choices. A note about the oval link chain - I have this one in silver and it is very versatile (it's the perfect chain to switch out any charms you may want to wear). I would suggest choosing a slightly longer length as it is easily shortened by using the oval links. I purchased an 18" and it is so nice to be able to adjust it to go with whatever neckline you happen to be wearing. I haven't had any issues with the chain rotating around and having the extra chain come to the front.

Thank you so so much! This is so helpful. I had chosen the oval link because of being able to shorten it, and I'm so glad to hear it doesn't rotate around! (That was my main worry) I think if go with the key and this chain I will get the 18" as well!
