Thank you so much for taking the time to write such insightful and earnest responses. I find myself reading everyone's posts several times! Looks like the consensus is stick to neutrals whichever style or type of leather you pick. Great idea with accessories Bellevue. I can so relate MDT! That blue is still on my shelf! So true that I always reach for a black bag. Lol I don't know why I would keep a bag for 10 years unless it's special like Pink's. I will definitely keep all your suggestions in mind. I'll just buy it, enjoy it, and let it go when it's time. I guess I'll be more careful of trendy colors.
Love everyone on the tpf especially the MK members!

I have bought so many MK bags, I have always loved the EARLY astors, leather was incredible, and the first ones had the Irish linen lining which was so classic and beautiful. Not as blingy as the later ones. I tend to lean to black bags, but the luggage color was my favorite.

The Hamilton N/S. I have wanted that bag since its debut and finally purchased 2 about a month ago to complete my handbag collection, well almost complete, purchasing one more LV next month. After purchasing several LVs and a Gucci, I still had to have the Hamilton N/S. Cinder is my favorite color. Its just a gorgeous handbag and timeless. I purchased a blue N/S for my mother about a year ago and she gets compliments all the time when she carries it. Always!

The Astors are so beautiful. Yes I don't like the new lining either. Maybe it's harder to duplicate?

I love the Hamiltons. What colors did you get? Glad to see that your mom shares the same love for Hamilton. My mom does not like Mk she is a Gucci gal.

I definitely think neutrals help a bag to go further, no matter the brand/style. My two MK's are black and Peanut(so yellowish brown) both could go quite awhile because of that alone.

When I think of timeless, I think of particular colors like black or brown. I don't think of a particular style. I used to prefer the neutral colors like these, but now I prefer the colors that I own. I like the pop of color with watermelon, electric blue, raspberry, aquamarine, mandarin, summer blue (all MK colors) and the non-MK colors I have in light pink (can't recall the name of this shade right now), red garance, and red canyon. I have sold most of my neutral color bags and only have one black (with raspberry interior), steel grey, and tigers eye (brown) now. They don't get used much at all though!

Those are some great pops of color you mentioned!

I agree with the others on here & would say Selma in a neutral colour.
In general I think you should avoid anything with studs, big buckles, in-your-face logos & prints if you are looking for a classic bag.
