Love this thread because I am preparing for my Europe trip next week! This is what I plan on bringing:

MZ Wallace Paige crossbody as a 2nd carry-on. This is a perfect size and I like how its small because it makes me not pack as much on my way to the destination.

MZ Wallace Lizzy as sightseeing. This is a newbie and I already love it. It goes crossbody and hobo style, while still be compact, water resistant, and really chic.

Tory Burch Amanda Logo Clutch for evening or nicer days out. This packs PERFECTLY in a suitcase. It is completely flat and I put her in a dust bag so no worries on it scratching or interacting with other items. It could even fit in my other carry-on if I wanted to.

Longchamp Le Pliage Large - I fold this baby up in my suitcase on my way there. I will likely shop and collect items while in Europe so I will use the Longchamp as my second carry on for my trip back so I can fit more. My MZ Wallace Paige (also nylon) can be packed compact in my suitcase.

I honestly don't like to wear high end designers when I travel, unless I am going to a place I am very familiar with. I dont want to be a target for mugging and nothing says "I have money" like an authentic LV or Chanel. Tory Burch is not well known abroad and is not very high end so I am comfortable carrying her.
Also as a previous poster mentioned, I want to be carefree when I travel and not worry about where I put my bag and how it interacts with the elements. MZ Wallace and Longchamp are perfect and I can bust out Tory when I want to be a little more dressy.

I'm with you. Unless I know where I'm going is safe and familiar, I don't bring my designer bags. The last trip we had was in Rio de Janeiro, I just carry a non designer small cross body bag and dress simply and casually. Countries like Singapore, is an exception, I feel okay bringing my designer bags. There's almost no petty crimes and everywhere you look there are designer bags and jewelry.

If I need a large zip tote I'd take my black Longchamp Planete. It's the most lightweight and weather proof bag ever.
However if I want a shoulder/handheld/cross body travel bag to place securely on top of my carry on luggage then it must be my trusty LV Speedy B 30 in the discreet ebene pattern

Gurlsaved and lazeny, You made a Good Point, I haven't really taken into account as much which country I'm going to, only that it's always me ending up with the wetwipes and the half eaten cookies, the jackets and hats and matchbox cars and umbrella and camera. I do want to carry a nice bag, but they sometimes look so out of place. And producing a pair of spare socks and a sandwich in a tupperware Container out of my red structured Max Mara just doesn't seem stylish;)

LV Damier Graphite Porte Document if I have to take a laptop with me, LV Damier Ebene Speedy Bandou as an all weather bag, Balenciaga Part Time in UV if the weather is fine and all I do is shop and eat, Chanel WOC if I don't need to take much with me and for going out. I also once carried my 40cm Birkin for a trip to NY with me, but never actually used it there as the bag is just so heavy.

Then again I don't go to any city or country I don't feel safe in. Have never been a victim of theft or robbery, though some scam artists in Paris tried some tricks... but that was regardless ofwhat I was wearing and I knew before what they were planning

I always take my tiny fendilicious wallet on chain it seems. I also always carry my givenchy nightingale. Depending on my needs, I also carry a lightweight Burberry buckleigh tote which is great for when I'm shopping (holds lots and expands to swallow more) or my balenciaga weekender.

Wow never thought about it but I travel with at least 3 bags always. Oh, and envirosax bags too. Gosh, I'm such a bag lady :smile1:

But at least, you're prepared. In my attempts on travelling light I often end up looking boring, I think and trying to only take one bag, makes every Outfit only half done, because I compromise too much.

Yeah I like to travel light as much as possible too. I've decided to bring my bal Part Time (I think they're quite understated?) for my 2 weeks trip next week (OMG it's next week~ can't wait!!) I don't think I can not see my Bal for 2 weeks, so she's coming with me, lol and also a bal Shoulder bag - going to use it as a makeup bag also double up as a small crossbody bag. 2 bags, that's all + a Baggu "green" bag.

And how many do you think you'll come home with? ;)

Ah that's a better way to look at it. I'm not just a bag lady, I'm a prepared bag lady. :p

I hate to travel and look half done, to borrow your term. The key, I think, is to travel with under the radar luxury items and good old practical lightweight pieces thay we know we will use. Anyway good luck to all of us travelling bag ladies and gents.

I've traveled with the Burberry Buckleigh tote quite often--it's less common than the Longchamp and definitely indestructible. I like it for a carry-on bag, but you can dress it up too (to an extent).

For awhile I traveled very happily with a Rebecca Minkoff mini Nikki hobo. It looks good, isn't too heavy, and I never worried about it all that much.

I also have a navy Fendi Forever crossbody bag I like quite a bit. I bought it for travel but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I like the navy/gold combo.

Glad to see someone else travels with their Burberry Buckleigh in this thread. :smile1:

I also use a large longchamp le pliage as a carry on and then I can fold it up when I have arrived and dont need it.

I usually take a gucci soho disco bag in black or tan as a 'going out' bag. I don't really like taking clutches because they are easier to get 'snatched' . I love my disco bags and they can be dressy or casual!

I usually take a LV in canvas (mono/de) because easy to keep clean and waterproof. Love speedy or noe for travel.

Otherwise a bal city bag if im not going to be too adventurous because it goes with everything :)

To the girls who carry burberry buckleigh:

I usually take longchamp le pliage as a carry on as I am a germ a phobe and usually through it in the washing machine after each trip because its indestructible.

How do you keep buckleigh clean is it able to be machine/hand washed?

Thanks :)

I take small crossbody bags with me on vacation, since they are easy to pack in the luggage. I usually leave my larger bags at home. I also take large totes to use as a carry-on and a beach/pool bag, too.

I'm another one that usually has three bags.
My Balenciaga weekender always comes with me. Then I take a Balenciaga city and and a small cross-body bag.

I'm traveling to Europe soon and I'm planning on bringing my Longchamp Le Pliage, MbMJ Nylon Natasha (it's crossbody), and a small clutch, not sure which one I'll take yet. The Longchamp is brown and the MbMJ is black so either one of those will match whatever I'm wearing that day, and they're waterproof and pretty secure for sightseeing.
