I love this thread and hope people keep posting.

The topic helped me crystallize two very surprising realizations I’ve been coming to over the last few years.

1) The cost I paid for a bag has zero correlation to the joy it brings me.
2) As much as I’ve tried to be, I’m not a “classics” bag girl. I like and reach for unique bags that simply make me giggly. I may be influenced to buy what people “say” I should but I am never influenced to wear what others find pleasing. :whut:

So my faves?
Dior Silver Microcannage Diorama

Dior Ltd Edition cream and gold Diorama

Fendi pink Mon Tresor w/both silver and rose gold hw

Chanel rectangular mini in perforated light gold lamb. (And I have to say this brings me joy because it fits so well with my wardrobe so I wear it a lot. Not because it’s particularly interesting.)

Mr. Sparkle & I have spent good money on “classic bags” and they make me yawn. I live for the interesting and slightly unusual.

So, new bags will have to meet the fun test!

Love your realizations, attitude in general, and all of these bags! All very unique and interesting. I can honestly say I've never seen any of these and while very different from most of my own bags, they definitely made me smile.

I love this bag!! Did it come with stripes of differing colors?

Like you, I wouldn’t think it my style but would probably wear it to death. I’m so over “quiet” bags. Quiet=boring and lacking creativity to me now.
Yes! It came with lots of different variations and colours, I’ve seen green stripes on classic Gucci canvas, as well as pink stripes on a black canvas and many others. Out of all the different versions, the purple just resonated with me most - it just has a little bit of an extra elegant touch, on top of being sporty! I love my quiet bags for particular moments but every now and then, you want something different and exciting 😉

I’m curious! I know sometimes we buy handbags to fill certain functions or niches - a work bag, a laptop bag, a date bag, a casual weekend bag - but the bag we use the most might not always be the bag that tugs at our heartstrings the most.

So tell me - which handbag in your collection, whether you wear it out or not, brings you the most joy and why?
Perfect question. Mom of two - boy 3 and girl 14 months. Full time hectic stressful corporate job the kind that is soul crushing but pays you really well because you have been diligently crushing your soul. I love my job and they did give me 6 months mat leave with full pay so am gladly eating my spoonfuls of soul crushing stressful job. I love dressing up well in work wear - mostly in black and carry a solid functional classy luxury handbag the kind that would go from corporate job in Manhattan to cocktail hour (although I don’t drink but you get the idea). The recent bag I bought is the YSL loulou large - just plain gorgeous and classy. It is black with gold strap. I don’t see many wearing it in Manhattan - I do see a lot of chanel and LV NF which is so tiring honestly - they are so prolific and abundant that one can’t tell fake from true and I have chanel fatigue. I just love how the bag sits in my shoulders and feels so luxurious. I also love love the Gucci Marmont Maxi bag discontinued sadly retailing for $4k. I use it as a diaper bag, in goes my chanel wallet, snack pouches, small water bottle, snacks in ziplock, makeup pouch, coin purse, keys and other stuff - that bag is huge but not grotesque and sooooo stylish. It makes a statement. It is also so stylish. I don’t want to be parading to a dinner events and family get together as with children in tow esp and carry a cheap bag. I get conscious - people are always watching your bag but I want to feel confident and powerful. I know - it is not about the money it is about your attitude lecture - but good expensive things make me feel confident and confidence is the best asset you can carry and flaunt. This bag is gorgeous fits sometimes a pair of change of clothes too. Lastly for everyday breezy errands to feel elegant and not like a truck hit me because I have a full time job where I come home and help bathe and my LOs put them to bed and they wake up screaming in the middle of the night and am up like an owl, I also use the LV Graceful MM and bought an extra strap which opened up so many carrying options for me. Effortlessly beautiful gorgeous bag. It is classy, elegant understated, and makes me feel very put together even though I don’t have to invest time to looking good.

Oh i like this thread and it got me thinking about the difference of liking how a bag looks, how functional/practical it is, vs the actual joy the bag brings. The bag that brings me the most joy is my Bal Black Cherry Day bag. I hardly use it because shoulder bags always fall of my shoulders, but on the rare occasion I do bring it out, I have so much joy just holding it and looking at it.20210626_144035.jpg

I am wondering now whether or not a bag i use everyday can bring me joy or does the joy have to come from a bag that i rarely use...hmm

Probably my "ugliest" bag--by conventional luxury bag standards:lol:: 2005 Balenciaga Chocolate City, because it channels and reminds me of my happy hippie era.

I don't think it's ugly at all. In fact it reminds me of my large Chloe Chocolate Bay of a similar vintage. I've been pressured to 'get rid' so many times but have resisted strongly. The whole relaxed, classic mid-70s vibe, soft-brass rivets and colour are perfectly complimentary to the model. A joy forever.

Each one a work of art, and so perfectly in your inimitable style.

Delvaux Tempete in black with gold hardware. It was my holy grail and remains my biggest splurge. I think the design is perfect, the leather is to die for, and the subtle gold hardware is gorgeous and elegant. It seems that Delvaux (like perhaps all brands) is unfortunately becoming trashier and splashier. I'm glad I bought when I did.

Ohhhh what an impossible question!

I feel like my favourites probably shift on a daily basis but I’ll take a stab at naming my top 3:

1) LV Petit Malle in silver & black Epi - I love love love structured bags, and I love the callback to the trunks that define LV heritage. It’s a bit inconvenient in that it doesn’t fit much stuff, but every time I carry it I feel so cool and put together. I just love it!!

2) Chanel mini seasonal flap in pink multicoloured tweed - this bag is so fussy, but I ADORE the colours on it, I just love pink and it’s such a beautifully made bag. Every time I carry it I get so many compliments. It’s such an unusual piece, I love it. It was super hard to get a hold of as well! I got the last one in my country.

3) LV mini Capucines in bleu petrole karung leather - I’m an LV girly, and I love the shape and size of the capucines! This one is my first exotic leather bag, and the colour is just utterly divine - it’s an iridescent shimmery bright blue. I’ve only caught a glimpse of it though, because it’s for my birthday and I haven’t been allowed to use it yet!!
