Just my two cents as someone who got the Celine mini for work

If you stuff it, it can barely fit A4 paper (with a bit of bending) with a soft folder. I personally wouldn't recommend using it with A4 paper. Just for those who might need to carry some paper around, and as a gauge to the size of the mini.

Honestly I kind of regret not getting the Micro/Nano because this bag is absolutely enormous and once you start adding stuff in it, it gets really heavy. And because of how it is constructed, the bottom and the top part will sag with time - which is why I got a bag organiser, to keep it's shape. So far it's kept it's shape well. However, adding the weight of the bag PLUS the organiser PLUS your daily essentials (ie bottle, brolly, notebook, etc) it gets really heavy. Unless you are office based I wouldn't recommend this size at all. It also is a bulky bag, and if you are on public transport during peak hours be prepared to get it knocked about a bit.

I've got the black version in pebbled leather and there are no transfers so far. I'm also about 5' 3" and it hangs exactly in the photo as posted by @Ines77.

All great things to consider. I love structured bags so the sagging is definitely something to keep in mind, especially with the larger Mini. Is your Belt from Phoebe's time or since Hedi has taken over?

Old Céline! I got it Q4 of last year. The weight is crazy though!

I’ll upload some photos of the bottom to show you what I mean - I think I got it in Nov-ish??? And I used it with a stiff bag insert almost after the first time I used the bag because it was just difficult to locate anything and also the sagging. Especially at that height, where some people tend to lean their arm on the bag and flatten it in a sense? I don’t know how to explain it well.

Honestly I regret getting this size because it’s difficult getting in and out of the bag with the closure as well.

image.jpg
Bottom of the bag - I must say, it is relatively flat for almost 11 months (used it for about 7 of those months for almost 4-5 days of the week and stuffing it silly). I did use a stiff organiser though.

image.jpg
No sagging so far.

image.jpg
Side view! It looks almost brand new in my opinion. This is after I took out the organiser.

With the organiser.

I hope this helps!

As a reference, this is what I mean by the bag kinda flattens if you don't put an organiser.

Couldn't find a good image of the bottom sagging but I assure you I've seen it happen in the minis carried in my country.
Yes, I see exactly what you mean with the flattening. So here's my dilemma and what I would use the bag for, etc.
  • I wouldn't use it as a work bag, more a special occasion bag. Unfortunately I am one of those people that like to admire my bags but I am pushing myself to use my luxury bags more often because that's what they're for!
  • Currently own a Micro Luggage in Smooth Black leather for reference, will be purchasing a Chanel Mini Flap in Paris if I can get it but may get M/L Flap there instead.
  • I don't carry a ton, likely zip wallet, small card case, mints, chapstick, lipstick, car keys and maybe sunglasses. I've never needed an organizer because of this but I like the idea of an organizer to help maintain the bag's shape.
  • I absolutely LOVE the navy blue that is available now, but can only get it in Micro size (not interested in Nano) in the US. I think Micro would fit my height better and what I carry daily (not much). My hang up with it is the lack of feet (absolutely love feet on bags) and the longer strap. I'd prefer to wear it on the shoulder instead of crossbody but honestly since I'd use it as a special occasion bag, I would likely hand carry anyways which I don't mind.
  • The Mini ticks the boxes for feet, shoulder strap but I'd only be able to get my 2nd choice color of grey here in the US. I'm going to Paris in February and they do have it in navy blue in this size, plus would save on VAT refund but that's all subject to availability. You bring up great points on the size of the Mini. I want my bag to stay as structured as possible and really not a fan when they get saggy or slouchy or smooshed if that's not how they're intended to look.
What are your thoughts? Also really appreciate all your help! It's hard to discuss this decision with non-bag people
  1. Get the Micro in navy blue https://www.celine.com/en-us/celine...t-bag-in-grained-calfskin-189153ZVA.07OC.html
  2. Get the Mini in navy blue in Paris (gamble if I can find it and/or if they're still making it in this combo come February... seems like they are making less of the Mini in color options and may be discontinuing this size?) https://www.celine.com/fr-fr/celine...ini-modele-en-veau-graine-189103ZVA.07OC.html
  3. Get the Mini in my second color choice of grey https://www.celine.com/en-us/celine...t-bag-in-grained-calfskin-189103ZVA.10DC.html

I usually use small bags for special occasions, I personally don't carry much out because for me less is best. Have you looked at other brands/types of bags? I do feel the micro is a better match for what you are saying. However, if you don't carry a ton, ok with the bulk of it, and ok getting an organiser, I think you're pretty good to go with the mini. Also, I understand what you mean by the feet but if I may ask... what are your reasons behind wanting the feet? The Chanels you are looking at wouldn't have the feet either.

I know how you feel about non-bag people... I'm fresh out of school and have been working for like a year or two and my peers are still in school - which makes it difficult for them to understand. But this is why we have TPF! :)

The Navy is absolutely gorgeous. Honestly I'm more of a grey person but I think this shade of grey might wash some people out easily. I do like the grey that has a more bluish undertone better but that's just my personal taste.

Yes, I've looked at a bunch of other bags/brands and my heart lies with Chanel and Celine! I like some Dior bags but can't fathom paying that much for a Lady Bag when I can get Chanel in the same range. I use my Marc Jacobs, Everlane tote, or Polene Numero Un (check them out if you like the Celine aesthetic but more affordable, I've been obsessed with this indie brand lately as they're not as well known) for daily use cause I literally don't care what happens if I need to throw it around or get caught in the rain etc. My Celine Micro Luggage I use for date night or when I'm more dressy. Looking to get my first Chanel in Paris with either the mini or M/L flap and then want the Celine Belt to round out my small collection.

As for the feet on bags, I don't know what it is I just love the look of it with another pop of hardware color and how it protects the bottom of the bag! Obvi I have no choice in this when it comes to Chanel flaps but when I do have a choice in the case with the Celine Belt I get so indecisive!

For reference, I wear a lot of black, grey, navy and neutrals. Probably 75% of my bags are black (though the Chanel I am getting will be black too), the rest are burgundy or red (don't use these ones hardly ever). So I need to add both a grey and blue to the collection. Question is in what brand/bag combination! Sighhh first world problems lol.

I like Dior bags too but I can't deal with their lambskin which is why I'm never getting them (although I really do like their ABCDior). I would rather channel the money into Chanel (and now Hermes).

I've got the Chanel M/L and honestly it fits my mini brolly, a Chanel card holder, couple of lipsticks/balms, eyedrops, my Bose soundsport free earpiece (which is notoriously fat) and perhaps a small wallet. The M/L > Mini. Besides, the M/L can transition from day to night and is definitely more versatile. Are you looking at Gold or Silver?

The Gold hardware on the belt is slightly tarnished (?) to give it that aged look. Goes well with Navy imo. Other than the pop of colour, if you're talking about protecting the bottom, it doesn't really as there's the whole sagging thing. Check it out in store and see if you are okay with that! Mine hasn't sagged much (or at all) since I got it.

Personally, I wear a lot of black, navy, dark grey, and the occasional pop of dark red. Chanel in classic black is definitely a must, but in your case with the belt I think you can't go wrong with either the grey or the navy. Have you tried them in store/planning to visit?

Lastly, if I were you, if the price difference is a lot, I'd get it in Paris. The price difference for the Chanel flap for me is around 900 USD (my country full price vs Paris after VAT return). Do note that there might be a Chanel price increase soon. Not too sure about Celine though.

The personalization aspect of the ABCDior gets me every time! But then I talk myself out of it when I start looking at Chanel. The Matte Black Dior bags though .

As for the Classic Flap, I liked the idea of the mini because of the price and the single flap. The M/L however works better with the chain strap as I could double it up as a shoulder bag or wear cross body. Being shorter means the mini would likely hang lower on me. I don't love the hidden zipper nor the double flap of the M/L, nor do I love the astronomical price point . I would take either gold or silver but if I had a choice would go shiny gold or light gold. I had the opportunity to buy a mini recently but it was in chevron (I want quilted) and the aged/brass gold. I don't mind if the Celine Belt bag has the aged hardware but for Chanel I want it super shiny! Also think I am going to go with Lambskin for Chanel. I totally see the appeal of Caviar for durability but I can't get the luxuriousness of Lambskin out of my head. I have tried both the mini and M/L on in store but will for sure get it in Paris since I can't get the combo I want here in the US anyways. I did the calculation and with the VAT and exchange rate I can save almost $1,000 USD on the M/L and $800 USD on the mini, insane!

As for Celine, I'm unable to visit a store as there are none near me. I'm tempted to order a Micro and Mini Belt online though and try them on at home to see what works best. That might help guide me on size and color since I'd order the Micro in navy blue and Mini in grey... then from there decide if I keep one of them or wait til Paris. I could save about $800 USD if I purchased it in Paris but we are only there for a few days and I think I'd rather focus my efforts on getting the Chanel Flap since I can order Celine online from home.

The M/L is defo more versatile. I got the black caviar in light gold hardware! If you are looking at Chanel I agree that quilted is the way to go.

You've got to consider Celine's return policy if you are planning on doing that if that's the case. Honestly, if you are going to Paris, I'm pretty sure it's easy for ya to pick up both Chanel and Celine at the same time, especially since you've got an idea of what you want for the Chanel.

I am 5ft, 3 inches tall, so on the shorter side and assume the Micro strap will be too long on me as well. Seems like I am leaning towards the Mini with the shorter shoulder strap!

Will let you know when I get it .

Please keep me updated if you are able to purchase the Mini Belt Bag in Navy Blue when you travel next month and what store you visited. And if you hear anything from the SA's about the status of the Belt Bag availability in the future!

I think I have changed my mind. See my reply below. Lol.

Oh! Wow! I think you just made me completely reconsider about this purchase. Thanks for saving my wallet!

I am office based, but I do take the public transit. I was going to put A4 paper in there (that was the plan, but have never tested it out). I tried it on at the store. The bag’s weight by itself seems ok, but you’re right - when things pile up in the bag, it’s a different story. I do have quite a bit of stuff. If I have meetings to attend that day, I’d also bring my MacBook Air.

Thanks again for helping my bank account :)! I’ll keep searching for another birthday present for myself.

By some stroke of luck, I was able to get the Mini Belt Bag in Navy Blue! This combo was not available on the US website (France and other int'l sites only) so I was starting to settle on grey or getting the navy in the Micro size. It must have been meant to be as my Nordstrom was having a Celine pop-up (Celine isn't carried in MN normally) and they had the exact bag I was looking for. I figured it was a sign and scooped it right up. The color is a lot more striking in person.
