I love Frye boots and find them tts and very comfortable right out of the box. My obsession this season was a lace-up style and I almost got these Frye Sabrina Brogues, but just didn’t want to pay that much for them.

So I ended up with these Timberlands. The shaft is a bit taller but I tend to have to roll a narrow cuff on my skinny jeans anyway so somehow it works without odd bulges.

that looks like a good substitute. Frye are expensive. The ones I posted are under $200 (on sale I think) but many of them get close to $500. are the timberlands comfortable?

I love the first boot and how versatile it is. It's elegant and won't compete with other peices of your outfit compared to the Frye boots. Although I have many Frye boots and they're comfortable, I don't like the look of these ones.

I like the look of them too but reading the reviews I'm doubtful about the comfort. I'm going to look at Nordstrom and see if they have anything similar to try on. I don't think they have that exact style though.
Sorry, the comfort concerns are really interesting to me. Unless Frye has significantly decreased in quality, I *lived* in them when I worked retail, and was so grateful to have them. I worked 8 hour shifts, and the only fashionable shoes I had that didn't kill me were the Frye boots.

I've never owed a pair but the ones I've looked at seem hard and a lot of people say they need breaking in. Also seems they vary depending on the style. I'm gonna check them out if I can. Nordies, Bloomingdales and possibly Macys in same mall carry Frye.

Looking at more photos, I think the heel on the Nora may make it more treacherous than other Frye boots. Keep us posted!
I went shopping today. Macy's had that second pair of silver Frye boot. The heel was too low but I tried them on anyway. Not comfortable. And the color was pretty straight silver. I had pictured the Nora as a kind of distressed black/silver. But if they are the color of the ones I saw in the store, not what I want.
Nordstrom was totally sold out of aquatalia. They don't sell Frye in store.
I tried on some Paul Green. Nice shoes but not exactly what I'm looking for. The closest to a match was a pair of black ones that were really too low of a heel.
So my scouting trip was pretty much a fail.
Nordstroms Rack did have one pair of Aquatalia in grey suede. It was a full size too small for me but nice and hugged the ankle. I managed to squeeze my foot into them.
So maybe I missed the boat this year unless I want to try to buy online. Or NR could get something in next week or the week after.
I may look online at the Timberland that madamfifi posted about
