aquatalia carie.jpeg frye.jpeg I want boots I can wear with my skinny or straight leg jeans that the jeans will go over - not tuck into boots. I found some Aquatalia that may work and seem to be comfortable. And some Frye that I like the look of but will probably not perform for this use.
And I have doubts about comfort with Frye.
thoughts or opinions or experience with these brands?
Suede one is Aquatalia....rustic looking one is Frye

Both boots are attractive; your choice depends on the jeans and overall look you are going for. The suede would look great for a dressier, more upscale look, say dark wash jeans and a silk blouse. The Frye booties would be appropriate for a more casual day, with lighter or more distressed jeans and a boho top, sweatshirt or simple white buttondown.

I have a couple pairs of Frye booties and find them comfortable and well made. Good luck with your decision!

the frye is more the look I'd prefer but I'm not sure if my jeans would go over them without bulging.....every time I've looked at Frye boots they seem hard and uncomfortable but these got good reviews online for comfort

Both look nice, and both brands are good. I've had many pairs of Aquatalia shoes and boots in the past, and currently own one pair (grey suede biker boots), which I'm wearing at the moment. Most were comfortable, I only had trouble with one pair of shoes (too narrow). Also, they are waterproof, which is a plus in my opinion. I've only had one pair of Frye (cowboy boots) in my lifetime, and they lasted forever. Oh, and they were pretty comfortable.

I haven't tried aquatalia on but from the reviews they seem like the would be well made and comfortable. Fry I know people love but not sure about the comfort factor
My feet are on the wider side - not wide enough for a wide size but more wide than narrow
Born shoes generally feel good on me - but how good is variable

I like both designs you have posted, but I'm not a fan of Frye boots. I used to have a pair that I found extremely uncomfortable (think it was either the Engineer or Veronica). While I'd purchased the correct size, my toes felt pinched everytime I wore them. Perhaps they weren't wide enough for my feet? (it was quite a few years ago and I don't remember) Most of all, I remember the weight of the boots. It wasn't a tall pair, but I dreaded wearing them as the weight made me feel tired quite quickly.

Admittedly I have very fussy feet, so please take this with a grain of salt! You might find a good deal on eBay as I ended up selling my pair very cheaply in order to get rid of it.

I'd be concerned about comfort with Frye. I may have fussy feet too. I can't wear cheap shoes. And even with Born which have been my go-to comfort shoes, they're not all that comfortable. I have a pair of boots I can walk miles in and another pair with the same heel height that I paid more for which are not that comfortable.
So don't think I'd but Frye boots on ebay (unless maybe it was a style I tried on in the store first)

they look kind of interesting too but I know nothing about the brand or fit (Spring Step) and there are no reviews

I own several pairs of Aquatalia boots and they are very comfortable. They are well made for the price point. I don't own Frye boots and have my doubts on comfort as well. My vote goes for the Aquatalia but if they made the style like the Frye pair, I vote for that!

I think a shorter bootie like the 2nd you posted is better for wearing with skinny jeans if you don't want to tuck the jeans into the boot. I'm not sure the first boot would fit under skinny jeans, or might bulge oddly? Whatever you get, I'd make sure to try them on and walk around the store, or if ordering buy somewhere you can return easily. I just have 2 pairs of boots, both knee high type, an Ecco and Corso Como, and I'm lucky both are extremely comfortable, as I've tried on a lot of uncomfortable boots.

Do your feet run narrow? If so, aquitalia would likely be more comfortable. They both look good. Pick the one that is more likely to fit you

I love Frye boots and find them tts and very comfortable right out of the box. My obsession this season was a lace-up style and I almost got these Frye Sabrina Brogues, but just didn’t want to pay that much for them.

So I ended up with these Timberlands. The shaft is a bit taller but I tend to have to roll a narrow cuff on my skinny jeans anyway so somehow it works without odd bulges.

But my latest obsession is cowboy-style so I got these. They are perfect for skinny jeans because they fit very closely around the ankle—I hate that loose gappy look.

It's pretty hard to be able to wear skinny jeans on the outside of boots. I'm thinking the sock type of boot is probably your best bet, so I guess the top one.

I have a pair of cheap faux suede boots that fit under jeans. Not sure if they are what you call sock type but they're kind of stretch. They look OK but they're only good for going out for a couple of hours, not walking to any extent. So I think the aquatalia might be similar but real suede and better quality
I have other short boots that can go under but there's a bit of bulge
