I usually set it on the seat beside me. In the rare event that I have a passenger, I can pretty much put it anywhere. I'm a fanatic when it comes to keeping a vehicles interior clean. I cannot stand driving or riding in a dirty car!

On the seat beside me if I'm alone or with the kids. In the centre between the front seats when my husband is with us. Ive seen cars with bag nooks that are really cool.
If I'm driving, it lives on my side between my hip and the door in case I need to reach in and grab anything!
I used to keep it in the front seat if I was traveling without passengers but more often than not it would fall over and I'd have to repack my stuff when I got out of the car. Yar!

Couple of scenarios:
1. If I'm driving and no passengers: it goes on the front passenger seat;
2. If I'm driving and have a front seat passenger: it goes on the floor behind me in the driver's seat;
3. If I'm the passenger, I hold it in my lap or put it at my feet carefully
Haven't yet had the situation where I'm driving and there's passengers both in front and full across the back seat, but I'm sure that day will come!!

If I'm driving, on the passenger seat. If I'm in the passenger seat, on my lap. If I'm driving with a passenger, the backseat. I never have backseat passengers, so my scenario ends here!
I know this sounds strange, but the police have said it's wise not to leave it on your front seat.
That's absolutely true! My bag was once stolen because it was on the front seat and doors were not blocked. A man simply opened a door, grabbed the bag and ran away... Now I always put my bag close, usually between my seat and the door (at my left hand). And I block the doors

Passenger seat if I'm driving and no one is with me. Back seat if I'm with someone. Since my car is new and relatively clean, sometimes I even put my bag on the back floor for easy access. I've gotten tired of putting it on the center console because it's constantly getting knocked over with stuff spilling out.
