My unpopular opinion: I like high/designer jewelry (non-silver or super dainty items) and watch ads with middle aged or older models. Ads with younger models feel like they're either trying too hard or the jewelry looks cheap. I find the age and elegance of the older model balances the heavily adorned and/or heavy weighted (literal and conceptual) jewelry. Neither the party and the item is fighting each other for attention but balances and compliments each one's beauty. It gives me more heritage, heirloom vibes instead of the easily-replaceable-when-the-next-hot-thing-comes-along vibe.

Wow! Well, I don’t want the thread to go off topic, so please message me when you find it! I love books on jewelry, so thank you for searching
(Me, too please @darkangel07760 for book title).

My unpopular jewelry opinion (to stay on topic) is that I cannot stand the word "Perlée," lol. I have no idea why. It's discouraged me from the pieces, which is hilarious, but I really feel a recoil to that word.

"Alhambra" rolls of the tongue, but "Perlée"? Nope!

Cord bracelet. Any kind.
It helps to keep bracelet stack separated (prevent scratching I guess) but I dislike wet wrist feeling after a hand wash. Besides it has no aesthetic appeal to me.

Asymmetrical bracelet.
But I can take JUC. Lol.
I agree…I dislike the cord bracelets also. They just look cheap and kind of childish imo. Now that you mention the wet wrist feeling I can’t help but wonder how people wear these bracelets! It would drive me nuts! I’d probably stop washing my hands! Heheh

I love the way cord bracelets look as they bring color and texture to a bracelet stack. For me, they look fun, not cheap. I have 2 and I’m eyeing a third one!

But I have to agree they feel awful when they are wet.

I think they look fun too! My concern is how well they hold up over time. How long have you had yours and do they still look okay after extended wear?

I’ve had one for a long time (probably 5 years) and I have a new one. The old one still looks great, but I wash it regularly with dish soap. The newer one hasn’t been washed yet, but I’ve only worn it a handful of times.
If the cord ends up looking raggedy after a while I can always change it for very little money.
I’m wearing the newer one today!

I’m all for buying yourself stuff but I wish they’d let up with this obvious consumerism is feminism lite crap.

I was reading about a brand only the other day and it actually said ‘in 2013, women started buying themselves jewels rather than waiting for men.’ This alone was so ludicrous I instantly got turned off their products. Please stop trying to sell me trinkets under the guise there’s something political about it especially with such a blatant ignorance of social history - it’s so annoying.

Also +1 on wet thread bracelets though they are nice as anklets.
