What's your approach to color in your handbag collection?

I'm affected by the seasons. During our very hot summer, I favour light or vibrant shades of blue, green, teal/turquoise, pink, yellow and grey. During our very cold winter, I love carrying red, navy, purple, brown and black. Ever since I became obsessed with bags, I changed my style of dressing. My wardrobe now largely consists of a lot of simple, monotonal pieces. I guess I'm trying to turn into the canvas for my bags!

I am least fond of muted beige and warm grey- taupe, mushroom, camel, cement, French grey etc. It doesn't seem to suit my skin tone. I love a good Saddle Tan though!

I love color and just finished a complete collection overhaul last year as I started to work on my rainbow flap collection. I have black, red, fushia, teal, blush, yellow, oxblood and leopard calf hair flaps. In addition have few mono brown bags. I also have collection of clutches in red, blue, nude, multicolor and patterns. I love to mix color bags with my wardrobe as it gives it more of edge imo. Not matchy matchy but just right amount of chic.

i never wear grey or brown color outfits so i tend to buy bags in these 2 colors :)
and the reason i opt for neutral-tone-bags is that i always wear floral pattern dresses
i buy bags to match my wardrobe but seldom the other way round :)

There are so many gorgeous collections on TPF, and I've seen some that seem to have every color in the rainbow; some with mostly neutrals, plus one or two in red/other "pop" color; and some all in LV monogram or all in black but just in different styles. What mix of colors works best for you?

Most of my bags are black and I have other bags that range through the grey - black spectrum. The only colors that I have got is dark navy blue, oh, and brown (LV canvas). Its pretty muted but I go for durability and black does a great job at hiding the dirt and color transfer, etc.

I don't like black handbags. I think that I own two. So, I'm all about a good colored handbag. I have red, pink, green, yellow...My philosophy has always been life is too short to wear a black handbag.

Most of my high end bags are black or red. The less expensive brands are more colorful. The crazy colorful ones are mostly from Lesportsac. Love their whimsical patterns. Casual-type bags tend to be in primary colors while structured formal bags are black and red.

I always prefer colorful bags—I have a wide variety of shades in my collection—so over the years I have tried to adjust my wardrobe to be more neutral. Bag color is also very dependent on the bag style, too, as some bags just look best in certain colors!

Neutrals: black, beige/light brown/bright yellow/lime green/powder pink. But mostly black. I don't rule out monogram/logo either, in LV and Burberry pattern.

I think most of us fall into one of four groups, the neutral wardrobe/neutral bag group, the neutral wardrobe/colorful bag group, the colorful wardrobe/neutral bag, AND then me - the colorful wardrobe/colorful bag group!! Cool colors - purples, blues, and red/pinks make up my bags, with a blue/green for variety, (and a pewter bag I never use).

I work in a very professional environment so my work bags cannot be too brightly coloured. As a result, most of my big work bags are in neutral colors (mostly black actually).

My crossbody bags are also in neutral colors because I use them mostly to travel and I want them to match as many outfits as possible.

Early on, I decided to have at least one bag in each colour of the rainbow as my "fun" bags. So far, I have only a Red (Balenciaga Work), a purple (Balenziaga City), a blue (PS Keepall) and a Green (Givenchy Nightingale). Still haven't found the perfect yellow and orange bags though.

Red and yellow and pink and greens, purple and orange and (muted) blues, (off)-white to black (with gold) and all greys throw in rusts, browns and tans, silver-gun metallics too. I can wear a rainbow (but not all at once) blend into the hillside or go urban warrior neutral.

Easier to see the not-me colours:
Taupe/greige/beige/mushroom
Most bright or light blues
Iced mauve or Barbie pinks
Raspberry or blue-winey reds
Most pastels and ice-cream colours
Neons
That's a great way to look at it too - there are certain shades/colours I wouldn't wear. I don't like pastels or neons either so can't really see myself ever buying a bag in those colours. I'm not a fan of burgundy/maroon (for all that I KNOW it is supposed to be a big trend this coming season) and I don't own any greens. I think I've reached an age where I can admire something on someone else (I saw a fabulous icy mint green Birkin on the coveteur the other day - stunning!) but I don't need to own it for myself.

I like mulberry oxblood, blue & oak/brown.
Black bothers me, except for formal/dress or edgy/rebellious occasions.
Bit of warm, zing colors.
And 1 forest green.
Plus a suede bag, for patting.

Most match colors I wear often. Except forest green--but easy to mix in.
Most have coordinated leather wallet/make up case/pouch. Because my personality quirks demand such nonsense.

Here's closet view. Decided to stuff dust bags with tissue, put inside handbags--easier to see/change out.
Large bags, wallets/pouches & woc/clutches:

Hope helps.
