Umm... this varies a lot based on day and purse.
But today I'm in my coach classic satchel,
3 books - American Alphabets, Sartre's Le Diable et la Bon Dieu, and Modern French poetry.
A notebook
Bottle of lotion
Manicure kit
Lip balm
Keys, wallet du jour (Maddie Powers)
Snack (a handful of dried fruit)
3 pens
1 pencil
gucci sunglasses in case
Pocket PC
Digital Camera

I like the site InsideMyBag.com, which is basically about the same thing. But okay, I'll admit that I am mostly interested in the bags 
Hmmmmmmmmm.....Let's see.
I have my wallet (one of the larger ones), cell phone, my planner, a makeup bag (a small one with one lipstick, two glosses and some blush), a small purse-size Bath& Body Works body splash, a small bottle of Advil, a Luna Bar, a Tide Stain Pen and a book.

A red satin, gold embroidered sub-purse containing:

cigarette case

pocket doodle of tissues
lip gloss
Sunglasses and magnifying glasses won't fit in there, so they go in alone, in an old blue hand-embroidered two-pair holder from far Cathay!
In winter I also put an extra pair of socks and a pair of gloves, for utterly enthralling medical reasons. They don't fit in the subpurse either.
One day I hope to find a larger but equally beautiful sub-purse.
Because I change bags so often, I have eagerly embraced the sub-purse lifestyle.

Actually I don't go to school or work since I am a SAHM. so I usually carry: LV zippy organizer wallet, checkbook, filofax, keys, cellphone, tissues, sunglasses (nearly all year round) LV make up pouch with powder, lipliner, gloss, mascara etc...but only if I am out all day
