Now that you have modified the bad it's clearly not eligible to return to the seller. If you got a great deal..just use it and enjoy it for now. You can always replace a buckle later on.
Yep, she wasn't taking returns when I put the Mylar tape onto it so I just accepted it. Of course now she'll take it back but forget it. It's a great bag and I solved the problem for now at least

Well, you probably could have escalated the clam to SNAD... but not if you have made any alterations. Enjoy!

I don't know if that works but maybe this will give a better look. Maybe try to use it on the film tapes so that it still gives a golden look and pretends to protect the hardware?

Def another idea thanks! For now I have it spray painted. I didn't wait a full 24 hours before using the bag, I should've, so it has a scratch on the paint now but I know this will chip and scratch off eventually. I have a trip coming that I bought the bag for (basically). I contacted Barbara at Lovin My Bags and I'll send it to her when I get back. She can replace the hardware (with something generic but matching) without having to replace the whole strap. I scheduled an appt with LV too just to be sure...I believe they will want to replace the whole vachetta strap but I'll check to make sure first before sending to Barbara

Before trying Brasso, you have to ascertain first if it is a Brass metal or gold plated metal. Using Brasso on gold-plated hardware will ruin the hardware. Brasso can only be used for Brass hardware.

if it is brass plated, you cannot do anything with chip offs. Brasso only works wonderfully for old/vintage LV wherein hardware is FULL BRASS.

if the hardware is not full brass, i suggest you get a replacement strap or have a cobbler gold plate the hardware

Just wanted to update this. I sent the bumbag to LV for repair, it came back 15 weeks later (not too terrible. 4 weeks in after assessment they told me 8 weeks, then shopping time there and back so pretty accurate).
They replaced the entire strap for $390. I could've had all the vachetta replaced but it would've cost $700 more (which is crazy bc the strap is the biggest part). Anyway, so I have a brand new strap on my bumbag, the rest of the leather has a nice patina, can't wait to use it as my everyday bag in the fall
