What to do with bag charms?

Omg that crab is so cute!!!

Yes, the fobs are so pricey now. I have a few leather fobs from Coach outlets I got maybe 10 years ago and they were maybe $10 and all stitched leather and have held up great. They both happen to match bags I have now.

Almost all my bags have really small d rings so the dogleash clips on the new bag charms won't even fit on the d rings :/

I got the tattoo FOS skull charm with gunmetal and it matches nothing I own at all but it was so cool I had to get it. I just got the beechwood sequin charm hoping to put on my Regina or Willis (above) but it looks bad on both and all my other complementary bags it does not fit on.
I have a terrible time with fobs. Typically the few I choose to buy do not fit on the bags I own, but whateve's post helps with that problem a bit seeing all of her creative solutions! I have tried using the extra rings and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. My biggest thing is that the flat fobs it annoys me when they get turned so that the side with no design is out. So based on it usually not working out for me quite like I want, I try to tell myself not to buy them. lol

Yes, I save charms until the right bag comes along. I have more charms than bags!

I don't care for the dogleash clips on most charms because they tend to make them hang at an odd angle.

Many of my charms are attached to my bags with rings. Sometimes I go through a hardware ring, sometimes I encircle the entire strap or handle. Here are some examples.
The first one is an antiqued brass ring I got from a craft store. It opens like a binder ring.
The second one is also from a craft store.
The third one, the frog, is the type of D ring that Coach used on many vintage bags, including Willis. Mine was given to me by a Coach SA, but you can buy them on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Two-Replac...efcase-/321098997426?var=&hash=item76c4e248fe
The fourth one, the fox, was purchased on ebay. It is called a spring gate ring. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Snap-Clip-...4341a193b:m:mORwWa2-p_uAAE_MWCcOptg:rk:1:pf:0 I'm not recommending this seller, just showing you what to look for.
The fifth one, the pink bag, uses the same D ring as the third.
The last one, the blue Rambler's Legacy, shows a binder ring, also called book ring, wrapped around the strap.

The fox and frog are so cute!!

I own 2 coach charms.

Rexy's gunmetal hardware + hermes bolide's phw + goldtone sunglasses clashing insanely here:

Here, piggy charm(which I secure with tiny safety pin through chain, as comes unhooked=clasp fail, coach) in a crazy mess o' color:

Basically, perfect matchy-matchy not happening for me.
But playing with charms is fun.;)
I love your pig charm! I might have to look for that.. I'm obsessed with pigs for the cny.

Ooh lots of good suggestions (and nice bag photos) here! I've been struggling with charms for my Regina; I'll have to try the rings. I notice that Kate Spade charms already have a ring mechanism instead of the clips.

Thanks! Sometimes I use pieces of Coach jewelry to decorate my bags. They are well-made and you can sometimes find the older styles on sale on ebay at a good price. One of my favorites is this starfish pendant that is decorating my denim rogue.

This is a cute idea, katev! I like the idea of the Rogue wearing jewels.

Here’s my dark denim Rogue. Wearing a pink tearose hangtag from my SA last year from a Mother’s Day promotion. I might change it today after seeing all these lovely examples!

I only have one Kate Spade fob, a seahorse, but I really like the twist and lock ring mechanism. It was another fob that I bought before I found the right bag for it - but I saw it cheap at Nordstrom Rack and couldn't resist.

I use it with another one of my (too many!) summer/seaside/vacation bags - the Coach Pierre Le Tab Umbrella Tote.

I know I e said something every time I see your Pierre LeTan but it’s just so gorgeous! I really want one, too! It’s the bag I consider “the one that got away.” This one and the raspberry Madison Caroline.

I believe that particular pig is a Henri Bendel pig and not one of Coach’s pigs......which Coach a quite a few. I think there is four 3D ones and 3 leather ones that I can think of right offhand.

Wait a minute, I'm confused. ???
Are we talking about the pig in remainsilly's second picture? The one on the Lonchamp bag with the LV bandeau? Or are we talking about the one on whateve's pink bag?

The one on remainsilly's is a Coach. It's on the site right now.
https://www.coach.com/coach-jeweled-pig-bag-charm/39404.html
(Damn it, I can't get the link to work properly. It's style number 39404 under bag charms.)
It has that new ball-in-a-C closure that numerous people have said pops open. You can even see that closure clinging to life in remainsilly's pic. (And I like remainsilly's solution of a safety pin. Why does Coach constantly have problems with their hooks and closures?)

Or are we talking about the one on whateve's pink bag? I'm asking because when I clicked within EdnaMode's post, to see which pig she seemed interested in, it took me back to remainsilly's post. And that's a Coach pig. I just looked at it in the store a few weeks ago.

Is whateve's pig on the pink bag a Bendel?

Omg you're right. The one I saw was the coach one. When I went to their website, I thought it was a different one bc I didn't see the rhinestones in the post until I expanded the pic. So yes I was referring to that one. I will now look at the Bendel one too. Thanks for catching this.
