What size diamond solitaire necklace?

I have a round, bezel set, solitaire pendant that's just over 2.8cts and it's beautiful. I get tons of compliments whenever I wear it.

It's one stone on a large part of the body (as opposed to earrings)...assuming they are all of excellent quality, IMO get the biggest one you can comfortably afford.

Absolutely not.
Mine is a 2ct pear shaped drop (baby gift for baby #1) and it is perfect. Not gaudy at all.
Diamonds "shrink" over time.....trust me.... (LOL).....
Get the 1.5 ct diamond.

At first you will think, wow!....then over time you will get used to the size and it won't feel so large any more.

Any of the sizes you mentioned would be gorgeous. I'm not a necklace person but a diamond solitaire is the only necklace that I own. Personally I prefer torwards the smaller end of your range, esp. in a bezel setting. I love big diamond studs but for a diamond solitaire I really prefer a bit more delicate on me because I am very petite (I believe you mentioned somewhere you are also), strangely larger diamonds studs I love on myself!

I agree with texasgirliegirl, you will experience "shrinkage", so go for the biggest you can afford and are comfortable wearing daily.

I think the perfect size pendant is between 1 and 2 carats....not that I would say no to anything bigger
but 1 to 2 carat gives you a substantial size without getting lost on you while still being delicate and wearable

I chose the 1.25 because I am extremely petite (5'3", 100 lbs) and I while I like "noticeable" jewelry, I still wanted it to be wearable on a daily basis. I hope I picked the right size. I have a 1.5 bezel setting. I love it, but sometimes i feel i should have gotten something smaller because I don't feel so comfortable wearing it everyday.
