I searched but did not find this particular thread, so I thought why not start one? Let's post pics of the jewelry (not just e-ring and wedding ring, but all jewelry) you wore (or plan to wear) on your wedding day!

Here is mine (and I will admit, I had to start this thread just because my headpiece was feeling left out of the jewelry discussions!)...the sapphire and diamond bracelet was a gift from my mother to my father passed on to me at my wedding day as my "something blue.

Just got married last month...don't have all my professional shots yet...photographer only sent a few "sneak pics"...so will post more detailed shots when get the rest. Also posted my own pics of my wedding set. Headpiece is swarovski crystal...earrings, necklace and wedding set are diamonds (some platinum, some white gold).

Just realized that my original post should have said the diamond and sapphire bracelet was a gift from my FATHER to my MOTHER, not the other way around, and then passed to me on my wedding day. Oops. :shame:

I'm watching "Say Yes to the Dress" and its getting me thinking about the jewelry people wear to their weddings. I won't get married for a long time, but I do know I want pearls. What did you wear for your wedding and what made you decide on it? It seems accessories may just be as hard to pick as a dress. Did you pick something that was heirloom? Sometimes that matched the dress? Or did you not really think about it?

My first wedding (White dress in chapel, veil, the works) I wore a princess style dress with a long antique locket that I loved, which was my "borrowed" piece from my sil and small hoop earrings.
Second wedding (25 years later) I wore diamond studs and no other jewelry. Got married in the park in Perth, Australia (at the Weir) on a sunny summer day. Sigh, perfection.

I bought a 11ct aquamarine pear and found a beautiful scrolly/filigree white gold setting online (which was a huge feat 11 years ago when things weren't so easy to find) and had a local jeweler set it. I then made it into a necklace of white gold beads, swarovski crystals and small pearls. I made earrings and a tiara to match. They were beautiful. Years later my best friend used the beads from the necklace to make me a mothers bracelet for when I had my first child. I love that. The aquamarine pendant is now hanging on a white gold rope chain that I wear often.
I also wore an anklet my mom made me for the day and an antique Omega watch my husband gave me as a wedding present.
I am a photographer, mainly a wedding photographer, so let me tell you, I have seen LOTS of bridal jewelry and known many many brides. I don't know if that makes me any more qualified to give this advice, but here it is anyway. Don't skimp on your jewelry or buy costume stuff. I know SO many brides who do that and regret it later. It's YOUR WEDDING DAY. What you wear that day should be something that you can wear and treasure throughout your life and pass on to your children. It shouldn't clash with your dress but I don't think I'd worry to much if it matches. Just my opinion.
