What "IT BAG" did you purchase but realized it just wasn't for you?

Love this thread! I have many in this category unfortunately. The ones that stand out:

Balenciaga City and all other bags in that line - love the edgy look but just didn't work for me. Kept my 2004 Twiggy though - amazing leather and I wanted to have one oldie but goodie Bal relic.

LV multi-color Speedy...was never comfortable with the flashy look...just not me...sold while they were still popular.

Mulberry Bayswater. Too heavy and flap bags don't work for me. Sold.

Proenza Schouler PS1. Again, flap opening was no good for me. Trying to open/close it annoyed me. Sold.

I think Mulberry, especially the Alexa and Proenza Schouler, again especially the satchel-like one (can never remember which is PS1 or 11) are great, but had a phase and now they look a bit dated imo.. And yes to Bayswater being rather heavy!

So I really like the Alexander Wang Rockie bag. I think it's really cool and edgy. I love that you can wear it on the shoulder, crossbody, or handheld etc. But most of all I love the lambskin and the studs on the bottom! I see so many women in NYC carrying this bag and I always admired it so I decided to get one for myself. I was so excited to get the bag and then I didn't like it anymore. I realized that although it's a great bag, it isn't really my style and I sold it. That "IT BAG" wasn't for me.

What "IT BAG" wasn't for you?
Longchamp Le Pliage, which may not be very expensive or premier, but still an IT bag. Bought it online years ago because of its IT status yet I don't like the zip, it's too long.

I agree, it's very difficult to get in and out of this bag. I do love it for travel--shove it under the seat on a plane, and with the zipper, all is secure. It's great to stuff with everything I bring back from a trip and cannot fit in the luggage, also.

YSL Cabas (no shoulder or cross body strap), Givenchy Antigona (medium was too big and bulky--terrible on public transportation), and Fendi 2Jours (big and heavy, plus I hated the saffiano leather). All three were also too obviously designer/lux for me. I never felt comfortable carrying them in my understated work environment.

I like this thread.
LV Neverfull didn't work for me- everyone has it so it put me off.
LV speedy- duffel shaped bags don't work for me.
Givenchy Antigona- too bulky and heavy

I also love this thread.
I went through a stage of owning logo bags. LV and Fendi in particular. Then decided I pay all this money and I am a walking advertisement for the designers and I stopped buying all logo bags and sold them all. Went to unknown designers of handmade Italian leather bags. Resale on these bags is not great but the cost is so reasonable and I I try my best not to order something I am not going to love as they tend to be costly mistakes because of the low resale. So far I have not sold any of the Massaccesi bags I have ordered as I have been pleased with all of them.

I also went through a period of buying Prada bags but found the leather too heavy for me so sold those as well.

Great thread! Mine was the Prada Saffiano Lux double zip bag. Just got too ubiquitous. Plus I realized I don't really care for Saffiano leather. I'll admit that I still like the look of the bag (I do like structured bags with clean lines) and if I had gotten it in black or gray instead of bright orange, I might still have it. But the color plus the trendiness of the bag made me feel like a big orange traffic cone every time I carried it.

Same. I lusted after the Prada saffiano but didn't care for the leather. Then Coach borough bag came along, which had a similar shape but more leathers/colors to choose from, and I found myself with 7 of them soon after lol

I think tpf helped to not buy a lot of bags I probably would have regretted-celine box, celine mini, Hermes Kelly (yes I was offered one), etc. My collection is small and everything has a purpose. I like it that way. My next interest is possibly a Chanel chevron flap or a delvaux Madame.

OMG! I forgot about the Fendi 2Jours I bought online and returned the same day I got it. I hated the saffiano leather and that bag is far heavier than it should be for its size. It just looks cheap in person.
Chanel classic jumbo [emoji50]

I thought it would end my lust for all other bags period. But after I got it I wasn't particularly wowed by it
I soooooo relate to your statement about thinking the Chanel Jumbo would end all other bag lust. I thought when I got my HG red Jumbo (in my photo) that it would be ultimate, untouchable bag love. Then I got it. And while I do love it, it's not an OMG! bag for me. My problem is I'm not fond of rigid caviar in the jumbo - the bag looks big and a little body on me because I'm slim. I know the issue isn't the style because adore my calfskin jumbo and my medium lamb. They just don't have the big profile of the rigid jumbo. So no more rigid caviar Chanels for me - ever.
