So, I was heading into a store carrying my speedy, when a male entering behind me (who to me, seemed to me like someone who wouldn’t be familiar with designer items, although you probably can’t judge a book by its cover!) and he says “woah, nice purse”, I say thank you, and then he asks “is it real?” I’ve never experienced that before, so being off guard I say yes. I felt super uncomfortable, he followed me to the same area but left before me. He was standing outside when I left. Nothing happened, but I am now wondering if I could have potentially been in a dangerous situation?! I realize, I probably should have scoffed and said something like “no” or “ I wish.” Have you ever experienced this, or what would you do?

Great topic!! It only happen to me once when I was 18. Guess I looked too young to be carrying a real LV Alma. He was working behind the counter, so I felt comfortable answering “yes”. Now days, I would just smile and shake my head “no” - for safety reason.

To answer your question, I guess it depends on who ask, and where you are at the moment. Either way, real or fake, people going to believe what they want to believe anyway.

"Is that real?"

"Yes, it's a real bag" with a smile and turn off conversation

In your situation, it would be better to ignore the question. Sounded practiced so you were right to see a red flag. Even though nothing happened, it's as well to be on your guard because things do happen. Whether he was after your bag or just being complimentary, it's a bit over-familiar. There's friendly and then there's too friendly.

Hmmm...I'd pretend I didn't hear him and walk away. Ppl are weird these days. What if he harms you, you are already uncomfortable enough with this question which means the situation was not good. Your gut was telling you something. Be cautious. Stay safe!

When possible, always have company around you, never be singled out. When you have to do things on your own, make sure you're going somewhere safe and choose the safest route, and let a friend or a family know where you are at all times.

I'm pretty sure he's this weird with multiple women, not just you. So I hope someone reports him to appropriate authority.

It can catch me off guard depending where I am when asked. With that said , my answer varies b/c of safety concerns. I have always thought it thru b4 traveling, but the last few years, I have put more thought into the LV bag I am going use when just going out & about.

I been LV gal since my teens but with the increase in value/ prices I “think” maybe people are more aware today
