Thank you all for your kind words of support! I had hemmed and hawed about writing such a lengthy post - but I love going into depth about my experiences, and I am glad to have people who appreciate and indulge me in my bouts of loquacity!

Also, as a further update to the thread… because, as usual, my self-control has buggered off for the Chrimbo holidays (I want to say they left for St Morris this time?) and left me with my proclivity for profligacy untrammelled.

I spent the day with my bestie in Knightsbridge for our festive lunch before the big event - and of course spent the rest of the afternoon moseying around Harrods - ostensibly for Christmas present shopping…

Of course I had to drop by Hermes, on the off-chance that they had special pieces on my shopping list (seems to be ever-present and growing like Japanese knotweed tbh).

I’ve been constantly on the lookout for more ombré lizard pieces to match my CDC, and unfortunately for my wallet, they finally had the Olympe ear cuff in in ombré lizard in stock! All sense of restraint went out the window. After all, Harrods was having a double points promotion, I had an Amex promotion on top of that - I’m saving money! It would be fiscally irresponsible if I DIDN’T get it, right? Right?! (Somebody please agree with me before I weep…)

Reader: I got the ear cuff… Once again, the piece is ready to be unboxed on Christmas Day, but in the meantime, here it is in a much more glamorous scene in the Bulgari hotel where we had our festive meal.

Of course, I couldn’t buy the ear cuff without being a total enabler - so my bestie got herself her first CDC bracelet in Gold Epsom/GHW. If I’m going down, I’m dragging her sorry butt down with me…

What a fabulous pic (for a moment I thought wow, @Prada Prince has a gorgeous home - then I saw it was the hotel 😀). So not just a perfect little clemence confection for Christmas, but an ear cuff to match your CDC!! And a little something from Cartier (ahem, planned, so not a Christmas budget, do I understand correctly 🤣🤣🤣). Thanks for sharing your wonderful pics and stories with us - it’s a joy. I wandered into the Palo Alto store last week. I rarely go in as my SA has left and I’ve been downsizing my bag collection. I headed for the equestrian alcove and saw this box of leather care supplies. I had considered ordering one online several times but never followed through. I asked a SA if it was available to purchase and she said it was….so now it’s home with me! (I did notice several bags on display….including a Birkin, but also saw some “For display only” signs…)

Love this! I know as a horsewoman you are quite familiar with saddle and tack care! Will you use this on any of your wonderful bags?

I no longer have a horse, but I find the leather products can be great on my hiking boots and some of my bags.

I already had a couple of the care items that came with the box. I find some of the products work well with some of the bags. But I usually refer to @docrides lessons and also test oils on my hiking boots. The only bag I’m fearful of hurting is the Black Box Verrou. But I think it’s time to use it casually and not worry about it getting a patina. I generally prefer things to looked “well loved” and think it’s time to include the verrou. My Birkin is buffalo and seems very sturdy, although pliable.

There was a beautiful saddle displayed. I think the underside was Barenia. It looked to be built with several similar but different leathers. They all blended together. And, yes, I sniffed it when I hoped no one was watching. It smelled divine!

Oh, please use your black Box Verrou. They are meant to be worn!

I hope that the raising of buffalo for the meat industry is environmentally sustainable and cruelty free, with leather as a byproduct. Maybe at some point, if they are able to balance sustainability with growth/profit, we could potentially see buffalo leather being reintroduced by H. That's my hope.

So glad you took a sniff! I'm sure many understands and would do the same.

Boucle Sellier Noir in Swift Leather with PHW.

I was on vacation and I decided to stop by a nearby Hermes boutique to look for a shoulder strap. It was about an hr after opening and the boutique was packed. When the SA assigned to me went to look for straps, i walked around the boutique and saw this bag that was essentially being ignored except for one person who casually asked another SA pointing to the bag. The client and the other SA moved along quickly so i went closer to look at the bag. I had never seen it before, but the buckle design was familiar. As soon as the SA helping me came back I asked about it. It turns out that they had just put it on display that same morning and it was indeed available. I immediately went into H madness and went towards the bag and i blurted out “i’ll take it!”. I didn’t know anything about the bag…price, name, story behind it, size etc. i just didn’t want anyone to buy it before me. It’s like i lost all reasoning. I know you TPFers know what i’m talking about when this happens at the boutique lol. I immediately called my partner and told him I found the bag I wanted. Backstory…the night before he was about to buy me a Delvaux Tempete PM for my Bday/Christmas gift, but i was hesitant to invest in Delvaux and so I passed on it. Anyway, I picked up the strap, a pegasus charm and went to the cash register. It was only then at the cash register that another SA told me the name of the bag. The SA helping me did not know the bag either. I went back to the hotel ecstatic. It was an awesome vacation regardless, but picking up this bag unexpectedly was such a moment because it’s such a unique H bag. Apologies for the long story. I’m just excited to share it.

Love it!! I can see the headlines “local woman caught sniffing leather at Hermes. More at 6:00”🤣 I have to confess I would have sniffed it too - their saddles look completely amazing!!

Your bags look great always. And hope you use your Verrou.

Amazing visit today! Purchased all black chypre sandals (going to use as house slippers lol), La Vallee De Cristal silk scarf for my mom, and a Jasmine fragrance for my mom as well. I went on holiday and met my amazing SA. Hoping to score bag, but no stock for what I want. Nevertheless I am super happy with what I got. Feel blessed to have such an amazing SA.

Having hard time to choose which color for Oran since they have many pretty colors, but finding Chypre in black made it so easy. Gold for Oran and black for Chypre. Both super neutral.

The Boucle Sellier bag is a very refined and underrated style from H. The buckle hardware is a unique touch that not many bags have on it.
