I really like the Kristen woven Laila---until my eyes goes to that big pocket. It looks like someone glued a wallet on the bag as an afterthought.
Funny, the pockets on the first generation Kristins are the ones that bother me. They look too small and just stuck on as an afterthought.

Are first generation the FP ones? I just looked at the reboot Kristen's and those do have HUGE pockets compared to the FP ones. I think the weaving on the FP bags is gorgeous in it's own right. Those bags would look so very lovely without anything but their straps and nice hardware.

1)Gold hardware. (Midnight Oak Phoebe was my exception)
2)Ugly linings. I just can't keep it if it's not pretty inside and/or clashes.
3)Bulky hardware. Even if its silver, if it looks like KVZ I won't buy it.
4)Satchels. No can do, no matter how mad cute it is.
5)No outside pocket for my phone.
6)Fur. It looks like you're carrying your pet bunny.

There were 3 generations of Kristins, all full price. The MFF ones are copies of the third generation line.
The first generation hobos are the ones I don't like. The satchels look good.

The best Kristins were the second generation, IMO.

Agreed. My favorite Coach item of all time is my Kristin Studded Clutch, followed closely by the Kristin Pinnacle Laila.
Kristin was such an easy line to sell when I was with Coach.

When I have looked at them on ebay, there are some FPs that I liked better than others. The straps or handles looked different. But I end up never buying because I can't get past the pocket. I had no idea about the generations....thanks for the enlightenment:smile1:

The super comfy strap is on generation 1 and 2. The pocket on generation 2 hobo is big but I don't mind it because the top of the pocket comes from the top of the bag. It doesn't look like it was added on later. When they came out with generation 3, they got rid of nearly everything wonderful about Kristin. Then they sent them to the outlets prematurely. It's like they wanted them to fail.

No wonder I get so confused. I concur that 2nd does look the best. I always thought the boxy type satchels were super cute.

That link takes me to something about a $50 gift card at Macy's? I had the Kristin Pinnacle Lalia, which I know was FP because I bought it in the store. Was this second gen or first?

I used to be VERY anti gold hardware. Within the last few years it has grown on me some but I still prefer silver.

Deal breakers:

Anything Signature {by ANY manufacturer}
Two sets of straps. If the handles aren't removable they need to have a sufficient enough drop to wear on my shoulder.
COMPARTMENTS!
Patent leather
Faux anything {including embossed leather to look like croc/snake/gator etc}
Trendy colors

Interesting thread, thanks for starting the discussion.

ABSOLUTELY no C's on the bag for me. Way too many of those floating around .
Other than that , I am pretty lucky since I see a lot of Coach bags that (imo) look really good. I buy to accessorize my outfit so I like a lot of different styles.
I see on this thread that most "deal breakers" are the more expensive bags anyway. It's great that Coach has bags to fit every budget.

I love gold hardware! Maybe I'm alone in this. But also because most of my jewelry are gold (rings, earrings, etc.) and I like the bling it has.

For coach bags, definitely no's for me are cloth (especially the logos), or logos everywhere. I don't like the cursive print that's on newer bags and I prefer the old symbol with the horse, etc. I'm more of a classic coach fan.

I cannot stand when a bag that should be standing up just crumples. I've had some that even when filled to the brim still have a slouch to them and it drives me nuts! Also don't like signature prints on most bags..
