Must haves are outside slip or zipper pocket for phone, can be carried shoulder and cross body (can be separate straps for that or just one like the Legacy Duffle), good color lining (although I am breaking this rule for the black Legacy Duffle with black lining, so wish they would have done a purple or red).

Switching back to a Coach bag after my first MK. I love how the MK has four inside slip pockets in addition to the interior zip pockets. Wish Coach would add more slip pockets.

That is my favorite thing about MK!

Patent leather and bags that ONLY have top handles! If I don't have the option to wear it hands-free then I won't use it. Case in point; the Kate Spade Mott Street Fischer I bought and sold in the span of about one month!

For me- it is any style with the three compartments...whether zippered, snap closure, or any combination thereof....to me, they just remind me to much of the "old lady purses" from my youth....

And, believe me, I have passed up some GORGEOUS Coach purses because of my utter disdain for those three compartment......

Great thread!!

1. No Fur of any kind.

2. A bag that puddles when you set it down.

3. A bag with that's too stiff and scratches your hand when you reach in.

4. Any pink bag. Just too "girly" for me.

1. Black interior lining color. Have a few black legacy bags, but I wish the linings were khaki like other legacy colors.

2. Narrow opening of bag. I have to pass on many chic hobo styles for this reason.

3. Heavy bags. As I get older I am becoming sensitive to bag weight.

After reading through some deal breakers, I feel I'm more sure of what I like and not like in a bag.

My deal breakers are:

1) no zip for the main compartment. I had 1 of such bag and I'm always paranoid about where my wallet and keys are. No more of such bags.

2) hand-carry-only handle bags. The celebrity-crook-of-the-arm style of carrying just isn't for me. I need it to be hands free sometimes too.

3) no patent leather. The plasticky feeling makes it cheap (to me). Nylon and canvas are fine.

4) bags that weigh a ton before I put in anything. My shoulders ache.

Liner, hardware, are secondary to me. I never like animal prints though.

I agree on the fur issue. It's not that I have some strong moral opposition, but I just feel like it doesn't work on most accessories.
A cute jacket or coat, yes, handbag, no.

1. Skinny straps. I feel they look disproportionate on a large bag. And I just know they're gonna hurt!

2. Sateen prints. The jacquard prints are more durable and a nicer finish.

3. More than a sprinkling of sequins, unless it's an evening bag. If the sequins are built into the pattern (like the sequin Sophia or the Legacy Stripe Glam tote) that's fine. But they have to have some "richness" to the effect.

4. Exterior envelope pockets that are too big or disproportionate in scale. Devin and Sage good. Courtney bad.

Lol about that fur tanner on FOS, it just won't die! Take the loss, Coach! We should start guessing how long they'll keep trying to sell that poor thing. (No offense to anyone that loves it, but I just don't think I've seen anything last so long. ) :)

Seriously! Mark it down to $50. Then they *might* get a few takers! Lol

I really like the Kristen woven Laila---until my eyes goes to that big pocket. It looks like someone glued a wallet on the bag as an afterthought.
