But my new Givenchy arrived from 24s on a super sale price and I’m absolutely loving the squishy leather on this!!
I will definitely be blaming @stacy_natalie and now @earswithfeet for my renewed love of givenchy. Definitely not my obvious lack of self control or bag hoarding tendencies 😂

Extremely humid where I live so I will have to look into that. Very little experience with patent handbags. Only have 1 old Valentino one which did have issues in time but again, oldee old and very different style than the 5 a 7 bags. I do have 2 Prada spazzolatto bags which look similar to patent and are fine, but I just googled and spazzolato not the same as patent.
i don't have either of these yet and not sure what I need to do, if anything, to avoid this. I have patent shoes that haven't had issues. The only bags that have gotten sticky are the glazing on a few louis vuittons.

I would encourage you to definitely look into this. I love patent bags but don’t buy ones that aren’t black because any color transfer is permanent and the clear coating can yellow over time. Also, I never buy patent second hand because while I don’t live in a particularly humid area, I know the stickiness issue is pretty common in areas that are humid.
That all being said these are lovely bags! I just want you to be able to enjoy them a long time with no issues.

The 2 patent YSL bags I bought are brand new and i rarely use most of my bags so hopefully won't have issues. The issue I had with my valentino bag was that the leather on a decorative bow sort of dried out and cracked on the corner but it was a separate piece and with the 5 a 7 there's no pieces that stick out for that to happen. (I will try to look for picture).
Re the Prada, long story but I purchased from boutique in Honolulu back in 2005, immediately got rid of and literally spent the next 10 years trying to track it down. I have seen some bags in recent years at the Prada outlet that have a similar debossed logo on front but not this exact style. I'm not an expert but would guess yours was maybe from similar timeframe. Have you posted in the "Authenticate this Prada" thread?
I think the patent issues of yellowing, stickiness and cracking come from storing not from wearing. But, I don’t have the details on how to prevent it so you’d have to ask some of the patent lovers here for details.
