I say go for it, it's really cute! It's great for Halloween, especially if you want to be festive without actually wearing a costume...

My sister thought the necklace was disgusting. BF said the outfit sounded boring, but he liked the spider in the hair idea LOL...

I like it...especially for halloween! And I think you should go all costumey too! Halloween parties are no fun costume free 
cool & unique but I wouldn't buy it for myself. it may be a good one to wear for a once a year party? or for clubbing?

This sort of thing was all the rage in the Victoian era,considered to be very fun,quirky......and now original items are highly sought after!!!!! I think if you wear this with a tongue in cheek edge,and the dress you are thinking of it will look a grown up and yet fun angle on the Halloween theme. If people comment on it you could always reply with a cheeky answer such as 'she's a black widow,do you like her? I personally love her attitude to the male of he species!!!!,takes no prisoners,now be a good chap and get me a drink!!!'

Very cute! I also saw a cute spider necklace at French Connection, that was smaller and more vintage looking.
Another idea is to use liquid eyeliner to draw a 'spiderweb' on the side of your eye, sort of like lining your upper eye and then extending it - if that makes sense.
