What do you think of DKNY bags? Are they good quality?

I always liked DKNY bags but for some reason they fell into a similar category as Michael Kors bags (every 13 year old seems to be carrying them. They are the 'cheaper' brand bags so to say)
BUT I then saw the DKNY Gansevoort in black and white and FELL IN LOVE!
It reminds me of a chanel bag but it feels younger and edgier. So chic!

I had a saffiano leather DKNY wallet and the leather cracked in half two weeks after purchase at one of the seams. It was exchanged for store credit but it has really put me off the brand, though I do like the look of their bags and was considering getting a purse of theirs before the incident.

I'm looking into buying a shoulder/crossbody day-to-evening bag. I saw DKNY quilted nappa bags in several styles. The leather is really soft. However, on one display bag
the leather appears to have cracked and come under the metallic hole. Also, on one bag in the store and one on e-bay there are already cracks on the leather since it's so soft. I'm on a somewhat limited budget right now so I'm looking into purchasing a high-quality bag that will last me a few years. Would you consider DKNY an investment bag?
Please note I'm not obsessed with labels. Actually, one of the reasons this bag caught my eye is because it's logo is small.

Actually I had to DKNY bags before. The leather was thick and the quality was good. In my opinion actually batter than Michael Kors. I had them for a couple of years. I finally sold them but until the day I sold them they were still perfect.
