what do you think of cz jewelry?

I have no problem with CZ. I think it's better to wear nice CZ than to break the bank with diamonds when you can't afford them yet. I would even include engagement rings in this. If the guy and the girl both agree (that is, he didn't lie and tell her it was a diamond) that they would rather go 'faux' when they get married and save the money for a house at the moment, that can be the smart thing to do and it sure is not my business.

I wore CZ ear studs for many years (about 26 years), before I was given a rather spectacular pair of real diamond studs. I do like the real diamonds better because the setting feels better (more substantial--but you could set CZ in a great setting); because you don't have to clean them all the time (CZ gets dirty fast and the bigger the faux earring, the worse it looks. I have about 2 carat diamond earrings. I would NEVER have gotten CZ this big because even cleaning it three, four times a day, the cloudy white-white CZ gets when dirty is really obvious at these larger sizes. I had a .50ctw CZ pair and I wouldn't have gone much bigger than that to stay realistic) I also like the real diamonds better because I feel thrilled that my husband wanted to spend the money on me finally after many years of marriage. I do think that's a lot of the appeal of real diamonds sometimes--it makes you feel special BECAUSE it cost so much,w hich is dumb, but there it is.

I don't have experience with ASHA or moissanite or the other expensive diamond simulants. I did see moissanite in person once and thought it looked kind of green, but that was JCPenney moissanite which I heard is not the best kind. Maybe people I know have ASHA and I think its real diamonds! It look great in photos (although I never trust things till I see them in real life. It's easy to take a photo that makes anything look great). My personal issue though with these is that they cost so much that you could save the money and get real diamonds more quickly--or get real diamonds in a pawn shop. When I used to wear CZs, what I had was Diamonique (which the settings feel a bit flimsy though, even when real metal, though they look good) or else the Winfields (which are very nice looking, they actually have body color and are well cut, which helps). I still wear my CZ when I am travelling and will be, say, in a hotel room and am not sure the safe is safe, if you know what I mean.

There are some threads on here with photos of simulants, if you do a search on this. I am glad we are not snobby about this kind of thing.

While I don't own any CZ jewelry, someone posted about LizC CZ jewelry. I went on her website...absolutely gorgeous jewelry, custom made. She has her own brand CZs called
"Sparkling Lizzies"...I'm tempted, LOL!

I bought CZ stud earrings to wear for awhile to see if they looked good on me. They didn't. Studs have always struck me as generic place-holders, and I'm so glad I got the CZ's first, at little cost, rather than blowing a bunch of money on diamond studs that I'd never wear.

I have cz studs I used to wear a lot before I got my real ones, and I still wear them at the beach, or during travel, they look as good as diamonds tbh. And I'm not afraid to lose them, I got them for 15 euros! They look almost identical to my real pair only the setting is different.
Also I like the Folli Follie brand jewelry, and everything from them is cz. Affordable and cute.

I was looking at cz stuff online (US shops) and tried to purchase some lately but the Fedex really screwed up and I never got them. Unfortunately there are no nice looking cz jewelry here (except Folli Follie), only gaudy cheap looking stuff with cheap metal (brass I think). Nothing like the real housewives of BH are wearing (I read that they wear a lot of cz).
If anyone knows of an EU or UK based online shop like emitations pls pm me!

I'm looking for pink cz studs at the moment. I saw a girl in the street and they looked really cute!

Gorgeous right? I will email her for this and a pair of earrings to match!!!
Anyone has an idea of her prices?

I have lots of cz jewelry and my only diamonds are my engagement rings. I love my cz's and I love that I did not spend a fortune on jewelry.
I wear a cz ring on my right hand every day and it still looks clear and sparkling- I can't remember the last time I cleaned it, btw.

Oh, I love that, Lilly! She uses 14k, 18k and plat so I don't think she's that inexpensive. Does she have your pink earrings? I think she'll custom make anything. Maybe someone has purchased from her.........let us know!

Yep I saw that, and that means customs office trouble for me, so I will keep looking within the EU or UK. Her jewelry is lovely though!

As long as the person wearing them don't try to convince people they are diamonds I'm fine with them!! :p

I like to wear CZ when I'm on hols... in case they get lost/stolen/damaged!

lily - try www.carat.cc but not too sure if they deliver to EU or UK. I am not even sure if the stones from Carat* are CZs.

I like it when I don't have to spend lots of money for larger diamonds. I can't even tell the difference with naked eye! I also get lots of compliments that I have to tell them that it's not real diamond! I bought mine from Hong Kong, 1.5ct solitaire ring. The happiest person is my husband. That's the only non-real diamond jewellery I have. It makes me think a million times when buying real diamonds when it exceeds a certain price point. Other than that, I would still buy diamonds. :D

I like CZ jewelry. I feel like CZ can sometimes be more sparkly than real diamonds. It seems to be difficult to get a lot of sparkle from most princess cut diamonds that I've seen, but my princess cut CZ studs have a lot of sparkle and I love them. I don't worry too much about them either; if I lose one it's not nearly as big of a deal as it would be if it was a genuine diamond. I clean my CZ jewelry at least once a month if I've worn them fairly often, and haven't had any issues with cloudiness etc.

Wow, that is absolutely gorgeous! Love it! I'm curious about the prices too.

Great thread and honestly considering all the posts I would wonder why anyone would want to buy real diamonds? I mean honestly I am not a fan of cz but then I do not own cz (neither do I own diamonds at the moment, sold what I had before) but I do think there is a huge difference between the two but then I guess that would be to the trained eye. Since I used to study at GIA I would be able to tell from afar if they are cz but 99% of people would not.

I find this thread really interesting, keep on posting please because each day we can learn something new.

Now as to losing jewelry that is why expensive pieces should be insured, no? When I had more expensive jewelry I used to have those insured. Now I just wear crystal designer jewelry because I find the designs and colors a lot more fun and different but I do love gemstones.

How could you tell? By the sparkle? I really wanted a pair of diamond studs but dh never agreed to buy me any so I bought a pair of Asha set in WG for $200+ which I figured was a great deal being screw back and set in gold. Told myself I am paying for the setting. What are your thoughts on asha diamonds?? 1 1/2 yr later I purchased a pair of 1ctw diamond studs but when I do wear studs I grab the ashas. Wouldnt want to lose my diamonds even tho those r set in screwbacks as well. Purchased the diamonds so I could stop wanting and obsessing about getting them. My husband says he can't tell and that I wasted money on my diamonds but I love them and they r checked off of my wishlist.
