What do you do with the leather tags on bags?

If it was just a thin piece of leather I might remove it. My gryson bag has a metal tag with the style name covered on each side with leather. I look at it as something the designer added and I see no reason to remove it.

I take it off. I had a Prada (but I gave it to my mom), with a luggage tag hanging on the handle, and I always took it off. I thought it looked better that way.

I usually take out the little hangtags off my Coach bags too, but that's due my paranoia of the chain breaking off and losing all those adorable little tags.

Decades ago, there was a real thing for removing labels. One simply had to remove any label from virtually any thing just as soon as one decided to keep it and not return it to the store. This was especially true for scarf labels and Coach bags. It was considered extremely tacky to leave labels attached to ANYthing. I remember my mother taking an hour to carefully remove a label from an extremely expensive silk scarf. She kept the label, though, along with the receipt, and filed it away. Same with Coach bags. She kept the tag in the bag in case it would be needed later for repair purposes, etc. I'm afraid we were taught to look down upon people who did not follow this rule. It is probably remnants of this rule that occasionally pop up and cause confusion.
