What do you do with the leather tags on bags?

I used to throw them away, now I regret it. Some bags are complex enough in design that they look better without the tags. Some need a little oomph, so I'll keep the tags on or maybe add contrasting tags. I have some charms that look better with a tag in the background.

So now I am keeping all the tags and matching chains, and designing my bag for the day depending on what I wear. I will probably keep my unused tags and charms in my "purse stuff" drawer so they are available when I feel like dressing up a purse.

I take all the tags and charms off and leave them in the dust bags. I don't like the extra bits hanging off my bags. If they are the same leather as the bag and you don't use them you can also test cleaners and sprays on them instead of on your purse.

I always take mine off but I used to keep them in a pocket inside of the bag in case someone thought I was carrying a fake, I could show people it was real. But now I just save them with the receipt.

I think that if a bag needs the tags to look good, then the design is not worth buying.

If they look like they are part of the designer's plan I leave them on (Coach, LAMB, Michael Kors). If it's just an "I'm real leather, smell me!" type of tag I toss it. I see people all the time with $15 lunch bags with a tag made of the foil insulation and I can't believe they think that is supposed to be left on!

if the 'leather tag' is a cloche, i leave it on . . . the back of the bag. I leave the lock on depending on the leather of the bag and how heavy the bag is already.

if the tag is a Coach or MK (neither of which I have), I would take the tag off.

I usually remove them and keep them somewhere and eventually throw them away cuz I don't find any use of them but after reading mothbeast wonderful idea, I'm gonna make use of them from now on
never thought about testing cleaners/sprayers on the leather tags before and have ruined my fav bag once :nogood:

I leave the tags on.....mostly I see people keep them on too.

My Coach bags usually have the tag it came with and a fob. My Mk bags have the metal Mk tag. My Brightons have the precious silver hearts and I think look cute on the bag.

I think the bags look nice with a little embelishment.....just like me wearing jewelry.:smile1:

It's all personal preference I guess.
