What do you do after purchasing your holy grail?

My answer is keep researching, reading forums, and saving money until I buy one on my wish list, and do it over again. I have an HG for fall/winter, a couple party bags, and I'm in search of a spring/summer HG. When next year comes, I would be in the look out for new styles and the research process starts over again.

Good thread, OP. I can't remember if I responded or not. If anything, my answer has probably changed.

I have lots of HGs out there to be obtained. If and when I do get one, I'll probably lust over it, wear it for quite awhile, put it away and use other bags in rotation, and then use that HG quite often....until I find ANOTHER HG to lust after. Sigh. It really never ends.

"They" do it on purpose!!!!
I'm going to pull my own quote from recently and reflect on it, because I DID get "a" Holy Grail bag right before the New Year -- my Chanel black caviar Petite Shopping Tote. I never thought I'd own an actual, everyday Chanel (I bought a Chanel wallet-on-chain over the summer and adore it, but it's too small for everyday use)...and now I finally, at the age of 36, have one!

Since I've gotten it, I've used it every single day, morning, noon, and night. I usually change bags about 3 times a week, so to use one bag for 2 weeks and not even think about changing seems like awhile for me (I know that sounds ridiculous). I actually feel bad for my other lovely bags because they haven't gotten any use, but I just can't change out of my Chanel. I love it so much.

A 25% off coupon for Coach came in the mail for me yesterday. They have lovely spring bags this year, and I'm tempted. But........

I have what I've wanted. I want to be done, at least for a long, long while. I used to own one bag and use it for a full season before switching out. And I'd love each bag that much more because of the wear I got out of it.

Sure, there are other bags I'd love to own.......but someday. For now, I'm content with my collection. And I hope I can say that for a long time!! (Crossing fingers.)

I think my mum sums up truely finding a holy grail. I bought her a lv neverfull Christmas 2012. She has used it everyday since. It still makes her happy every time she uses it.

I took her to lv this Christmas and told her to pick any bag she wanted.Given the success of the previous year, she fancied another lv. 2 hours later we walked out the store empty handed. She decided she didn't want another bag, and chose some Chanel accessories instead.

I think she has found her perfect bag! She wouldn't even entertain the same bag in a different colour. She loves her mono neverfull and nothing can match it!!!

It's not about the cost or status as she has a Chanel and Dior that both cost a lot more. She just loves her neverfull. :smile1:

Thank you for sharing this! Sometimes I think I need another new bag, but end up not buying one. I'm just very happy with my Givenchy holy grails. :)

I never realised how much I would love my PS11 but after I bought it, I wore it non stop for a month and I still wear it almost every days since I got it almost a year ago. Not bad!!! Haha. The bag is just TDF!!

Good question. I just got my HG bag. Next...,off to ban island for a long time and start saving for retirement instead. I'll see how far this new year's resolutions will last :smile1:

I wanted to revive this thread after reading an interesting one re: buying/selling. The pursuit and permanent satisfaction gained from a "Holy Grail" - is there such a thing?
I sure as heck hope so. I was looking at the Chanel PST I bought at the end of December. With the exception of a lovely Coach bag I bought using merchandise credit from a wallet my husband didn't care for, I haven't bought a bag since. I sold a FEW bags and saved in order to buy this PST. My husband can't believe I've used it day and night since. I was looking at it in the car today and thought, "I really love this freaking bag."
I hope I'm done. I really do. I WANT to be done. At least for a few years! That would be a long time for me.
Any thoughts re: this revived thread?

The problem with being young (I'm in college) is that:
  • I can't afford any of my HG bags (I can barely afford any of the bags on the lower end of my wishlist!)
  • I haven't owned enough bags to know what I think is my HG is really my HG (e.g. style/colour)
Yeah I know, first world problems :p :D
