The business card holder in Empriente did not go upWith this price increase i think im really done with LV, i’ve been contemplating to get the key pouch in empriente or the business card holder in empriente but i guess im good with my collection now. After i got my gucci ophidia medium tote bag in burgundy, i felt purse peace. I have total of 9 bags now and i think i have plenty excluding the slg’s. Luckily i got the classic slg’s already
Handbagholic has a full listing of the increases on their site.

I think her chart is a little off- I checked my receipt, from December 2021, and the old price was $5650. So percentage wise, it went up about 20%. Still a huge hike, and kind of an interesting one because I had the impression that Capucines weren’t selling all that well. Maybe they are more in demand in other countries? Or maybe I’m being too cynical and the increase really is meant to reflect “increased costs”… although if that were true, I’m not sure how a NF suddenly costs more to make than a Speedy…Glad you already purchased your Capucines. That bag really was hiked up (screen capture from handbagholic)!

The Capucines is a very well made bag, but there isn’t the demand out there to increase its price by 20%. Unlike the Chanel classics and Hermes dream bags, the Capucines is readily available and doesn’t give off the vibe of exclusion like LV is trying so hard to do. I personally feel that bags determine their own destiny over marketing campaigns and unjustified price increases. All of the other bags that had major price increases (Coussins, Neverfulls, mini pochettes, pochette accessories, etc.) were all getting similar prices on reseller sites. Why wouldn’t LV charge what people are already paying for these pieces second hand? The Capucines for the most part loses significant value over time, which is unfortunate for those who purchase them new…I think her chart is a little off- I checked my receipt, from December 2021, and the old price was $5650. I agree the price hike seems unreasonable, but the loss of value over time doesn’t bother me. I don’t like Chanel bags, and I’m not about to play the silly Hermes prespend game to get a Kelly, so for me the Capucines is my “lifetime bag.” Hard to care too much what they go for on the resale market when I have no intention of selling. The Capucines is a very well made bag, but there isn’t the demand out there to increase its price by 20%. I’m sorry, I think you completely misunderstood my post. It wasn’t about not purchasing the bag because of poor resale value. It is was about the fact that most of the other pieces that had huge price increases were justified because they were selling for higher than retail prices in the resale market. I love the Capucines and it is a very well made piece, my argument was about the lack of justification of a 20% increase because of the fact that it isn’t a huge seller, both new and preloved. I’m happy you love your Capucines and this post wasn’t intended to push you or anyone else for that matter to Chanel or Hermes. I was just saying that their prices are justified because their bags are in high demand and resell close or above retail.I agree the price hike seems unreasonable, but the loss of value over time doesn’t bother me. Ah, yes sorry I think I misread! I get defensive because a lot of people kind of rag on the Capucines as a “bad buy” and I feel like it’s no better or worse than any other luxury bag (for those of us who don’t resell). Let’s face it, all of the prices are crazy! I think we are in complete agreement that a 20% hike on a bag that isn’t hugely in demand is pretty outrageous!I’m sorry, I think you completely misunderstood my post.
