What can I do to be distracted while I wait for my pretties?

The ring does look beautiful in those pics! Will you be exchanging the diamond?

It's gorgeous...but obviously if it bugs you, it has to be returned. What's plan b?
Yes I am going to send it back tomorrow. The setting i own regardless, but obviously they need it to reset a new stone into. I have already let the vendor know I think we need to go up in clarity and down in color, without sacrificing size (setting built to stone size). I can throw up to $1K more at it but I don't really want to if I can avoid it. I did ask the appraiser who will eventually see it, as well as the diamond guy and another diamond friend what they think of my opinion on eye clean and if changing the clarity to a VS2 or SI1 will appease that. I am not at all opposed to inclusions, as long as I can't see them without a loupe. I just was so spoiled with my old SI2 that I really didn't see this coming. It's so hard to remember that I will never get a stone like that one again, so I have to adjust to that.

But this is a TON of money and I refuse to settle.

I would say borderline bionic. With correction I can see RIDICULOUSLY well up close and far away. Without correction (contacts) I can see the first 6 inches like a microscope. It's crazy. And I look forward to the day where it's not like that ;) so I can delude myself.

I am disappointed but I know we will find a winner.

Well, it looks wonderful, but I'm sorry you are not happy with the stone. It is too big of a purchase to not be 100% pleased.

It does look very large on your hand! What size ring do you wear?

5.5...that thing looks huge and magnificent. I cannot even believe it.

Jon at GOG has a 1.18 I VS2 coming in, hopefully there by Saturday. It will be a little more money out of pocket but hopefully worth it.

I am trying to figure out if I can pay the difference on the wire transfer price (I transferred the bulk of the first stone) via card since it's only a little over $500...I hope he lets me otherwise I can't do anything til the 30th.

^ Good luck! The size is really great on you. I hope this one will work out.

I wear a 7 on my right, but a 7.5 if I stack bands. I get jealous of women with tiny fingers. Mine aren't really pudgy looking and they aren't fat (I mean, I pinch them and it is just skin, not fat). I want to drop some weight and always wonder if my finger size will go down- it would be nice if it did, but I doubt it would.

Mine did actually. And my friend Sarah lost about 50 recently and hers are so big they only fit on her thumb now!
I have HUGE knuckles, so I get 5.5 so I can get a ring over my knuckle but they don't come off easily when they're below the knuckle. Below the knuckle I am probably a 5. In the summer the 5.5 is perfect below the knuckle, when I am cold/it's cold out, a 5 easily. I had sizing beads in my old E-ring and it was a 5.5 and that helped, but even with those when I was cold it was floppy. Whatever size this setting is now (I am betting less than 5.5) is perfect below the knuckle. It was snug over the knuckle. And my plain bands (2mm and 3mm) are both majorly floppy below it.

I just took two really nice pics :) I am packing it up for a return shipment right now.

Thank you, I am hopeful, too. Thank you for the comment over yonder ;) LOL I hope she doesn't get in trouble mentioning me....

I have scoured WF, JA and GOG for hours today just looking at VS1 and VS2 stones. Some are pretty incredible, others suck. I am ok with J VS1 should it go that way.

I honestly said "oh sh*t that's huge" when I took it out of the box yesterday. And while I know now it's awfully large and I am a little self-conscious about it, that WILL fade, lol. Soon I will do as Lynn does and look at bezels. Or worse, trade-ups!

Check your pm's:smile1: Would you consider another type of RB, such as a H&A? You would have a larger selection. Don't worry about the size. DSS will set in quickly!! I can't believe that Lynn is changing that gorgeous fishtail pave setting, but you do what you have to do;) I raised some eyebrows with my latest reset and it all worked out for the best.

As important as the clarity is to me, the color trumps it when I am making a choice. Having put my stone in a halo, I'm glad I went for the higher color. The halo, IMO, makes the body color more obvious and the clarity less obvious. I do think that the setting can make a difference.

That's true, and it's actually why I had them set it and send to me first before sending to Rich. I wanted to see if I could see it while set or whatever. I have two weeks before I get paid again to wire any difference of funds for a new stone so if this first VS2 doesn't work out I can find another. Id like to stay I or H color but I can handle a J I think if need be.

Yknow, I really don't want an H&A. They're pretty but now that I have had the Star I kind of feel like they're not as fun ;) I like the little tiny flashes.

I cannot even BELIEVE Lynn is changing that ring. I actually gasped.

Ame it's beautiful!!! Gorgeous setting and I kwym, it just looks huge!

Well at least you have the setting now... sorry you weren't over the moon about the stone. I feel you... my original ring was a beautiful .80 F colour but was SI2 and actually had eye-visible black dots in a little cluster and while you had to "look" for them, any close look and you'd eventually see it and it did bug me a bit. After doing all my research for this solitaire I had set my range for diamonds too... staying above VS2 seems to guarantee an eye clean diamond at the size you and I are looking at. I prioritized by cut, colour, then clarity, then size, staying over VS2 so I didn't have the same issue. I feel the same way - if it's eye clean, she's good enough for me!

You'll find your stone. Don't fret! I agree... if it is bugging you now you'll hate it in a year.

Speaking of rings... mine came in yesterday!!! I can't pick it up until tomorrow - boooo!!! Am sooooooooo excited!!! Will give me time to give myself a mini mani I guess so I can show you all!!! :) :)
