What bags did you carry before you developed your handbag fetish?

I was really into Kate Spade and Furla.

Basically anything that appeals to my eyes. If I like the shape,style, color, and if it's functional... brand names did not matter that much...before

I had an Isabella Fiore red/burgundy/bronze bag...it was some kind of material with leather handles and beading...very pretty. I got it on sale at Nordstrom and thought it was the most beautiful bag ever! I still have it and think about using it sometimes...it's sentimental, the first bag I ever bought for myself. *sigh*

Coach that I bought from the outlet store... Liz Claiborne picked up from Ross... Oh, and I carried around a bag from the Gap for the longest time!

^^^Yes. Whatever "designer" bag I could find cheap at Ross or TJ max or Marshalls. Talk about one extreme to the other.

Mostly Nine West, I guess... that does seem like ages ago.

However, even today, if I see something that I really like, I'll buy it regardless of the brand. But... I for the most part I'm only seen carrying designer stuff.

all my life i've only had backpacks, usually from surf shops in hawaii. now that i've discovered designers, i'm lovin it. i'm really happy to have found this purse forum. i feel encouraged and justified with my extravagant wants w/just a little bit of guilt hanging around somewhere

i was bargain hunter. Like seriously. I bought a purse from Express for $60 about a year ago and I was mad that I spent that much for a purse!!!!

Little did I know.............2 Balenciaga's in the last month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The old me would be so disappointed or maybe JEALOUS of my new bags!

Like many here, I started with Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Kate Spade, etc. But my first bigtime designer purchase was a black Marc Jacobs "Stella" bag about five years ago. For a while, I was obsessed with Marc Jacobs; I knew every bag in every color, and I owned quite a few of them. Then I expanded my horizons! I've gotten rid of many of those early MJ bags as my tastes have changed, but I'll always remember them fondly...

I had Nine West and DKNY bags. Back then, I thought DKNY was a really big deal.

In the early years it was Aigner, Stone Mountain, Capezio, Nine West and Saks.

Then, I graduated to Dooney and Bourke and Coach.

Well, now, I'm enjoying LV, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Chanel, Balenciaga, Dior, Fendi and I'm still loving Coach.

i used to carry guess and esprit bags. then it was nine west (at that time i thought their bags were way too expensive). then about a year ago i discovered coach (at the woodbury commons black friday sales) and life has never been the same. i moved on to kate spade. now it's gucci and dior...i have a feeling i'll be entering the zone of chanel/ysl pretty soon...someone stop me before i reach the hermes level!!!!
