first off....CONGRATULATIONS! :yahoo: i remember reading about your weight loss journey and all the different struggles and successes your relationship went through because of it. i'm so happy for you guys!!

what about a very simple, beautiful diamond bracelet? something small, so it doesn't feel too jewelry-y and would be easier to wear every day even if you're not a jewelry person. i know pearls are the "it" thing on the board right now and a classic for wedding jewelry but they're hard to wear on a daily basis especially in bracelet form (too delicate imho). for something that sentimental, i would want the option to wear it all the time if i felt so compelled.

the ilsa paretti diamonds by the yard line comes to mind first. the sapphire or aquamarine bracelets are both in your price range AND something blue :smile1: ($1575 and $1400 respectively). if you wanted to add a bit more you could get the diamond version ($1975). all three are very light, simple and understated. you could have a timeless piece of everyday platinum and gemstone tiffany jewelry from your grandmother.

there's also a bezel set tennis bracelet from http://www.ross-simons.com that i adore (it doesn't link correctly but it's item #202669). it's a little bit more jewelry-y, but small enough carat weight that it won't seem blingy. i've had amazing experiences with them. everything is beautifully packaged, great quality, and well priced with a wonderful return policy.

congratulations again! i know you'll find something spectacular!

^^^^ This is what I was thinking... I love the idea of pearls - but if I'm doing diamond earrings I may want to do some sort of diamond bracelet to match... but I can't afford to go Tiffany or designer with diamonds. I can't afford it to be any more than $1000.00 - and honestly, I'd prefer it to cost less than that. I'm a more modest bride... lol ... I don't want a piece of jewelry to cost more than my dress :push:

ooh i misread....i thought the $50 bond was a $500 bond. i'll do a bit more searching in that price range. i'm always looking at jewelry online anyway...at least this way my hubby won't be nervous that i'll want him to buy it for me. :smile1:

i found these on bluenile.com----they are their least expensive. i think they are under $600?
do you want to buy real or are you open to CZ in sterling?

some ideas from ross simons....i just started writing down numbers of things that caught my eye so i don't remember what goes with which. i know there's a couple with diamond accents but most were colored gemstones in the blue family set in white gold. i think most were under $600.

Arg - so if I ditch using Lisa's earrings (MOH), I could do a lightly dangling pearl earring with a matching bracelet... but I probbaly wouldn't use these things too often... but does it matter?

Earrings like this:

Or should I stick with diamonds - being my dress is sort of plain (no beading or sparkly to it) - so would diamonds go better than pearls with this dress?

We like the idea of simple diamond studs - about a carrot each. I have teeny tiny ears (well, I'm teeny tiny in general, really) - and we didn't think it went with me or my look.

I like the idea of studs also, but I believe you said budget was 1500 (1K and 500 bond?). 2 carat studs are going to be really pricey and quite large... Here's a pair from Blue Nile that are not "top of the line" stones, but still great, IMO- at an I/SI2- they are $7600.

1 carat studs are 2,100. If you want diamond studs, it may serve you well to really do some thinking about size and what you want overall for jewelry.

I see nothing wrong w/ getting earrings that won't be used a ton, as long as the bank is not broken. Do you have larger pearl studs, like 8mm or larger? They could show up nicely and you could wear them as daily earrings afterward.

Please be careful wearing a bracelet with your gorgeous wedding dress. A bracelet could easily catch on the delicate material, causing you unwanted grief. I think earrings and a very fine diamond solitaire pendant would look lovely. If you prefer not to wear a necklace, you will look wonderful with just the earrings. If you do choose a bracelet, be sure it won't catch on your gown.

I can see a savarsky christal (sp??) tennis bracelet working. A very fine delicate one which just sparkles with the moving wrist. It would look very pretty.

I dont think its wise to spend $1000 on something you will not wear often. Nor do I think you should run out and spend it without much consideration because it is a lot of money. There will always be an opportunity to buy yourself the special gift from your grandmother, and Im thinking that after the wedding you might be under less stress to do this?

We would love to know what you decide.:tup:
