wearing jewelry all the time

It may or may not be contact dermatitis. (I think that usually is a reaction to the metal itself???). If the metal is gold, silver or platinum, and you have no trouble with those metals elsewhere on your body, I'm thinking it's a combination of constant wear (and sleeping on it) and perhaps dampness under the jewelry from the showers. Another idea, and forgive me for asking a personal question: do you think you could be sweating a lot during sleep and/or having night sweats, or hot flashes in the daytime? You seem far too young for the hot flashes thing, but I thought I'd throw out the idea. Also, during peri-menopause, one's body chemistry can do weird things--allergies, sensitivities, etc. you've suddenly developed. I personally think your problems is not that,though--just constant wear and shower moisture.

Also, if the metal is silver or gold, perhaps it's a lower grade than advertized, and you could be having a reaction to that. Or, if the jewelry is palted, perhaps the plating is wearing away to expose the base-metal.

Weird. I wear a necklace 24/7. No problems. I do take it off when I shower though. Never had any problems.

You are so lucky! :(

I do not mind personal questions! :smile1: No, I do not sweat at night, but I think that you are 100% correct about the constant wear and moisture!

Agree with eminere. I think it's a matter of getting used to. I can't sleep with jewellery on :smile1:

I have just placed a pretty dish next to my bed that will easily hold my things. I am just going to have to learn to remember to put them back on in the morning! I find it easier to take them off than remembering to put them back on. :p

I wear my jewelry really really 24/7 for extended period, to sleep, shower, even to swim, hot tubs or whatever. No problem or whatsoever. But I do not spray perfume on the back like you do. So I think it's the perfume not being clean in that area when you sleep.

I agree. I am glad that the perfume brought it to my attention!

I agree with this...except for a love bracelet because you would have to unscrew that.
I am seriously grateful that the Love bracelet isn't an issue. I would have to buy a cuff!

Hmm that might mean I'd have to shelve my plans to get a Love bangle.
Nooooo! You have to get one! What about a cuff?

I really do want one but it'd definitely need to come off after every wear, and if it's going to be an insane effort each time...

I've actually never considered the cuff to be honest. Wouldn't it become a deadly (and very expensive) projectile if you were to gesticulate wildly? :p Cuffs scare me like that. I'm not sure how secure they could be on one's wrist.

for anyone who wants a great pendant chain that stood up to almost a year (well, maybe 330 days!) of daily wear to bed and occasional showers, i recommend getting apretty thick gold one (mine was 1.25 mm) with soldered-on lobster clasp and ends, and in a wheat chain design!

i stopped wearing it to bed only after one of the diamonds popped out of my favorite pendant that i wore on the chain :(

i dont remember where i got the chain but it held up amazingly-- just a simple white gold 14kt chain with soldered-on lobster clasp (wish tiffanys chains had lobster clasps but everything is soldered pretty well!)....the chain lasted so long and it was also in a wheat design = no kinks or pulling hairs out EVER like my other stupid foxtail chain i have! not as pretty as 18kt but i got it at the time as it was slightly cheaper than 18kt and stronger

I wear silver cuff bracelets all the time, and have never had problems with them coming off! You just need to make sure it's fitted properly. If it's a good size, it shouldn't even move too much on your arm. Also, taking a cuff bracelet off is sort of like taking a tight ring off - it's not super easy to take off, so it's unlikely to come off all on its own.

Thanks for the advice. :smile1: I guess I'm just not used to wearing what is essentially an open-ended bracelet.

I have tried on a few. They are quite secure! I want one in yellow gold one day.
