Excellent post Nat!! Thanks for taking the time to do it!! I was wondering what to use on my Mimosa Python VP...as I would hate to see the color darken as I've heard can happen with Apple Gard. Have you used it on the Mimosa Python?

Hi MJ-Yes, my Mimosas were already sprayed. Did you buy mine? If so, you don't need to do it again.

Appleguard darkens the Opaco & Nabuck. Don't use it. I ruined one pair of shoes before my cobbler turned me on to the Meltonian. It absolutely won't change the color or texture.

Hi Nat! I actually scored mine from Barneys during the sales last summer. I was very hesitant to use anything on them, because they seem so delicate! I can't wait to get the Meltonian so I can actually start wearing them!:D

Thanks again for sharing! :hugs:

This is such an amazingly informative and well thought out post, and the timing couldn't have been better. It seems that a lot more of us are venturing into the exotics arena lately and there definitely have been a lot of questions regarding to treat or not to treat, and how to treat!

Nat, thank you for taking the time out of your day to provide the wonderful information and pictures. I've never thought of treating my exotics, bags or shoes, but I think this really made me change my mind! Off to buy Meltonian I go! :broom:

I treated mine immediately because I was wearing them to an outdoor wedding. I just sold them and they, literally, look brand new. You'll be thrilled with the outcome.

If you guys saw the weather I wear my exotics in, you'd die. People are shocked when they see me out in the SoFL rain in my exotic shoes. Anyone that's ever bought a pair of my exotics will tell you that they are in perfect condition.

So go forth my friends, spray away, and wear them every day.;)

This product reall works! I got a pair of grey watersnake ADs and sprayed them as soon as they arrived. I have worn them several times and they still look amazing. Dirt just comes right off. I tried Vectra on another pair of watersnake ADs awhile back and it permanetly discolored them. Nat is right, Meltonian is the way to go.

Thanks for posting! Now this makes me nervous to treat mine bc of the color change. I hate to admit it but in the years i've been wearing CLs i've never treated my suedes or exotics. I've been really lucky so far

Nat, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to post this. This is so helpful for those of us who have new to exotics and/or have been scared to treat our shoes.

Have you tried this on watersnake hardwick by any chance? I've had my watersnake hardwick VPs for 8 months and have been scared to wear them for fear of getting them dirty. If this will work without darkening the skin, I've actually be able to wear them.

Hi PyAri-I have. The great thing about the Meltonian is that it doesn't discolor the shoes. Like I had said, I used it on my stark white Opaco NPs and they stayed stark white until I sold them to a bride to be just a few days ago. Kept the dirt off of them completely and left them as white as they could be.

I trust it so completely that I treated my white python Chanel without even thinking twice. All of my exotic Chanels, as soon as they get home get sprayed.

Just spray it at arms length and spray it evenly and make sure you cover the entire shoe.

I've gotten a little heavy handed now that I'm so comfortable with it as you can see from the picture of the one treated Jenny compared to the non-treated one. I pretty much saturated it. Don't do that. I get a little carried away. Not that it hurts it but just don't. I've been doing it a long time. I go through about a full can every 2 weeks.

^^Thanks Nat. If you've trusted it with your white exotics, both shoes and bags, then I know I won't have any problems. That's all the reassurance I needed. Off to order a can now. Thank you! :flowers:

Ordered! This thread couldn't have come at a better time. The weather has been great for the past week and is supposed to stay warm. I cannot wait to actually wear my VPs!
