I considered a black face when shopping for my watch. It's so fresh looking. I eventually went with a silver dial but if I were to ever buy another watch I think it'll have a black dial
Yes, silver is very versatile, I have a couple of silver dials, sporty, not high end but a sturdy tissot and victorinox which are very similar and black as you say is fresh.
 
I like the first watch best. Sporty, with a dash of elegance. I do think it's the most versatile, day or night.
I have a very similar victorinox and tissot so considering the black. Though not higher end, they are classic and going strong and they are well worn because as you say these type of styles are the most versatile.

Well, since you have one that so closely resembles the Tag, maybe you should go in the other direction. My mother wears a Raymond Weil and has for years. She loves it. I'm a Rolex person myself, with a Michele watch for fun.

Since you don't have a black dial in your collection yet, go with the black! It gives you another option & is still very classic
