I have recently inherited some money and would like to use some of it to purchase a lovely piece of jewellery. I have a pair of diamond studs, my engagement ring and a silver tiffany necklace which I wear every day. I wear quite classically styled jewellery.

I am not sure if I would like to buy a lovely necklace, a watch or a DBTY-style bracelet. Although I can't wear watches or bracelets at work.

I wanted to ask your advice about purchases you have made which have passed the 'test of time'. Items you wear again and again, and never tire of.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I would get a necklace since you can't wear bracelets at work and have lovely earrings and rings.

Maybe a DBTY necklace with a nice diamond?

I love bracelets, so I would choose a bracelet, but how often would you really wear it? This is something you should consider.

Definitely get a Rolex. It is the most classic piece (next to diamonds) to have in your collection. You seem to have diamonds covered in your collection so a watch would be a great addition. I say get a 31mm Datejust (two tone if you wear both gold and silver jewelery) with diamond markers and a mother of pearl face.

A Rolex will surely pass the "test of time" and is something that can be passed on from generation to generation and in the meantime, can be worn everyday.

Good luck!

Would you consider the dbty in a necklace seeing you cant wear watches bracelet. Different sizes . Would you stay with silver or go gold - platinum. Or what abt the metro diamond pieces. Y
Hopefully we can help you here :))

Personally I would go for a classic watch (Cartier, Jaeger Le Coultre, Omega, Patek Philippe, Ulysse Nardin, etc - not a fan of Rolex personally) as something that will stand the test of time assuming you dont go for oversized or white ceramic etc.

Alternatively go for some straight forward diamond jewellery like diamonds by the yard or a solitaire necklace.

Again being a british traditionalist I wouldn't include an eternity ring or anything else for your left ring finger in your considerations.

Here are my suggestions:

- A classic watch - doesn't have to be a Rolex - there are other premier watch brands like Omega and Tag Heuer which have some lovely models that are a little more affordable and you could then get something else with the rest of the money, depending on what your total budget is.

- A diamond eternity band - this could be layered with your wedding rings or worn on its own as a right hand ring. I have one and it is my favourite piece of jewellery.

- A diamond or diamond/gemstone pendant in whatever metal colour you favour - since you wear silver it sounds like you prefer white metals. You can get lots of suggestions on here for vendors to go through to buy it. Tiffany's pieces are beautiful but you could get more for your money elsewhere. Kiki McDonough has some lovely pieces made with gemstones and diamonds or Blue Nile is great for building your own diamond solitaire pendant through their online tool.

A Cartier Love bracelet or cuff is also a lovely choice but personally I think one of the above choices would be more versatile and a better long-term investment/staple for your collection. Depending on what makes you choose and what your budget is you could also get two of the above. Based on what you have said I think a necklace/pendant would be your best bet as you can wear it all the time irrespective of work.

Can't wait to see what you choose :smile1:

I think an a classic watch would be a good investment. Rolex, Cartier or whatever tickles your fancy.

Maybe a necklace though if you want to wear it all of the time, VCA have some lovely pieces.

I would recommend a classic diamond solitaire necklace. you can wear it everyday and you'll get so much mileage out of this purchase!

my second option would be a tennis bracelet or platinum or YG dbty bracelet but if you cannot wear bracelets at work you wont get enough wear to invest in a piece like this imo....
