I just loved the leather and the color saturation back then. Balenciaga bags are generally very "alive" compared to other bags, meaning there is a lot of variation in the leather from bag to bag, color to color, season to season. I love it precisely for that. The older 2002 to 2005 leather seems more silky to me. They fall like water, and I just love that about them. Mind you, one of the best leathers ever IMO is the F/W 2007 offering. The leather that season was amazing, and the colors were fabulous. I still kick myself for selling so many of them. Vert fonce, jaune, violet, steel, mogano, all were some of the best leathers and colors ever put out.Yes, that eggplant color is stunning (as are the rest)! I've yet to own a Bal, but hope to add a city to my collection in the next year. Your lovely bags just add to the excitement of owning one for myself pretty soon, fingers crossed! I would love to know, though, since you mention you love your 2002-2005 most -- is it perhaps because of quality? Like have you experienced the quality of the newer bals don't add up to previous years? Thanks!
Thanks so much for the informative post! I agree, bal leather is extremely well-made. My sister owns a bal (not sure what year), and it's buttery soft. Again, your collection is superb, and hopefully, I get my hands on one this year. Thanks again! ^_^I just loved the leather and the color saturation back then. So that's what I look for, color saturation and leather softness, and these oldies are big winners. I haven't bought anything new in a long time since there is such a thing as enough bags, but I really love the metal edge ones among the new offerings. I don't own one, but I covet them.
I'm surprised how many people are drawn to the caramels! of course I love them, but (as is obvious) I love the bright colors. The bright colors are what originally drew me to Balenciaga.I love everything on the wall, especially the caramel pieces. It's unbelievable you have such a FULL collection. I was at one point (years ago) an avid Balenciaga fan, but since have bought and sold and never at one point owned more than 3 B bags. So again, I applaud you for your diligence and hardwork.
Which is your favorite go-to handbag? Which do you wish you used more? The First design is by far my favorite design and you have covered all the bases.
Good work!![]()
