Hopefully by then they have news about the Volynka Bolide 30. Fingers crossed.
Thank you for sharing. Would you be able to tell us about Volynka Porosus crocodile please?Hello everyone! I found this forum while doing some research for a client and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Ryan and I’m the owner of Carmine Jack Leather. I am the US agent for J&FJ Baker & Co, the British tannery that creates the Volynka Russian leather.
If anyone has any questions about Russian leather (how it’s made, how it ages, etc) or the tannery in general, hit me up! I am more than happy to chat about it (I love talking about leather!). For anyone who wants to get their hands on some of it, we stock Russian leather hides in whole and half hides and will soon be offering square foot panels for anyone wanting to just get a sample.
From the pictures I’ve seen it’s a beautiful leather. Very very expensive. It’s a farm raised porous crocodile skin that has been oak bark tanned (tanned using only oak bark and water with no other tree barks) with skins averaging 38-42cm wide. It’s finished with an analine stain. Currently only available in brown.Thank you for sharing. Would you be able to tell us about Volynka Porosus crocodile please?
thanks for the pictures. does it have the characteristic Volynka scent or do we skip that part with exotics because of oils? From the pictures I’ve seen it’s a beautiful leather. Very very expensive. We are set up to import the skins but have not yet had an opportunity to order it yet.
I do not think it gets the birch oil finish that the Russian leather calf hide does. Oak bark tanned leather in general has its own smokey aroma because of the liquid it sits in while tanning but it’s not as pungent as the Russian hides.thanks for the pictures. does it have the characteristic Volynka scent or do we skip that part with exotics because of oils?
