Will that influence Chanel prices?
Doubt it but Chanel really ought to rethink them because the prices are a bit much. Didnt help either that many of the designs were so juvenile. Chanel under viard turned into a teeny bopper brand. Hearts and bows and skimpy tank tops with juvenile sporty designs. I get that some of these designs are popular in Asia but it ignores a large part of the western clientele. But the price points are ridiculous. Someone commented me the other day they didn’t see what was so special about the Chanel jacket re design compared to many other brands like St. John nili lotan etc. that’s just my personal opinion. I get fit and material may be different but just aesthetics wise why would one pay more.

I agree. I am so not a crop top kinda girl. I just didn’t get her repeated attempts at reviving retro vibes of each decade (70s, 80s, 90s etc). I lived through it once and have no desire to relive it again. I look forward to the new creative direction for sure.

I think she has made a good decision in leaving now. Her work has seen revenues sky rocket, her RTW collections have been incredibly successful, yes it was very youth oriented but this wasn’t just her choice, it comes from the whole image department, the brand needs youthfulness to stay relevant and attract the next generation of clients.

She’s exited just as sales are starting to shift to the negative, gone before she was pushed.

Before we speculate who will take over, remember this is a brand laden with heritage and codes, whomever it is to lead will be following the rules set in stone by Gabrielle, Karl and Virginie because there’s no way a significant change of direction can happen to a brand with such a loyal devoted following and legendary allure.

Was it really her work or the fact that people for the last four years have just been shopping nonstop and living yolo. Now that prices have gone up and people aren’t spending as much on luxury and brands are having to fight to stay alive perhaps there’s a sudden realization that her designs aren’t actually good. Unless you’re an insider hard to say where the juvenile designs came from.

The whole house may be moving away from creative directors and just hiring artists to create collections. That's what's happening in beaute and fragrance and I can see it happening in accessories and rtw.

People buying CC rtw want that Iconic look . The bags have been freaking stale for a long time. Top handle everything, shrink it and add chains.

There will never be another Karl that's for sure.

I’m kinda shocked because she’s been there so long and was appointed by Karl. I wasn’t the biggest fan of her styles every season but never disliked her much and always felt “safe” in the sense of comfort knowing that she was Karl’s right hand so we’d hopefully still get touches of him. With her leaving and all that history leaving I’m a little uneasy and wondering what’s to come for the next few seasons.

One thing I can say about virgine is she brought me my favorite chanel bag in my collection. My small round beechwood vanity straight from what I think was the 22c runway. It’ll never leave my collection even though Sofia Ritchie wearing it made the resale price skyrocket
