Vintage vs Magic earclips.

For what it’s worth, to me, bigger is not better in this case.

I think given there are so many of the same motifs around the face, the matching VA size looks stunning. I think the Magic size, while bigger, does not look as good when worn with a 10, and I think it actually takes away from the beauty of the necklace which is the star; the eye should go right to that necklace.

The VA size earrings make it look like beautiful a set, not like you are trying to bling out in Alhambra logo motifs with jumbo motifs on the ears on top of a necklace (unless you want to look logo-y).

The Magic look be fine on its own or worn with a long Magic.

Just my two cents, but it’s all preference.
You always so convincing. I was hoping you’d persuade me to stay with vintage size to go with my 10 motif. And you did! Thank you so much!

I know you find the magic Alhambra pieces logo-y but am I the only crazy one here who looks at magic motifs as elegant, bold and beautiful? I don’t even see it as a being logo. All my old eyes see are the beautiful silhouettes of a clover that gently say ‘I am confident and beautiful’ rather than scream ‘look at me. I have arrived’… I can only imagine how stunning the pave magic pendant and the BTF pave rings must look together on you:loveeyes:.. pics pls when you try them together next.:hugs:

I am totally with you in this!
I think we always have to keep in mind that opinions may differ on these things because it is all about personal preference !

I adore the Magic size ! I can’t remember the last time I wore any of my vintage Alhambra earclips. It never even occurs to me to reach for them. Like you, I see the Magic size as bold and beautiful ( the paves are amazing).

There was some discussion by a few members some years ago who called the Magic size matronly. I totally disagree — It is what you make it , how you wear it .

In my opinion , which definitely differs from others here , the Magic earclips are no more logo-y than any other VCA. For me that may be because I am not someone who likes layering or stacking. I like to wear a few pieces of beautiful jewelry and let them be the stars— so there isn’t competition between the pieces.

And as I have said before I adore the Magic long pendant necklaces . I have every one made plus a few. ;) I don’t tend to wear more than one Alhambra piece at a time, but I wouldn’t hesitate to wear the Magic earclips with the long necklace because of the distance between the motifs.

100% this! We all have different tastes and because of that these brands provide us with a multitude of options to choose from. And thank god for that:biggrin:

Jewelry is such a personal preference that as much as I value others opinions, in the end I buy exactly what tugs at my heartstrings. If I love something no matter how unpopular it may be, I know it’s coming home with me.

Like you, I feel that how we wear different pieces speaks volumes. It’s how we carry it that makes us put our own personal mark on these pieces. There are certain pieces that look so drab and awful on me but I see it on others and admire. That’s what I enjoy about this forum. Seeing the individuality shine through.

I am 100% with you on not layering or stacking and wearing a few beautiful pieces letting them be the stars!!! That’s totally my philosophy! I usually only wear one or two Alhambra pieces at a time, too. I’m sorry I didn’t start collecting VCA when I was younger, but I try to buy pieces I’ll enjoy wearing casually since we are retired now. I love the long Magic pendants so much, and they are definitely my favorite VCA necklaces since they can easily be worn casually or dressy. Now to just add some Magic earrings! You already helped me on another thread when you said you only wear your large polished Frivole earrings now, so I’ll likely skip the small. Although, who knows when they’ll ever restock polished Frivole earrings?!!!

Anyway, as @eternallove4bag already said, so much of these decisions is just personal preference since most Alhambra easily coordinates with other pieces. The other big factor is being to actually find what we want!

I absoluetly agree with you on this. I know technically the clover shape is a VCA logo but to me it doesnt read that way. I don’t really like logos either, and for a long time I didn’t know what jewelry to wear because I didnt like most shapes for one reason or another, but the clover shape is generic enough (not too much like a cross - I’m Jewish - and not too much like a flower) and very flattering.

Not to confuse you @DS2006 but as much as I love the 10 motif with vintage earrings (or vintage earrings with vintage pendant) and wear my magic earrings mostly solo without a necklace or sometimes paired with the magic pendant on a long chain, I still prefer the magic earrings when I wear my magic pendant short. Here is an example of me going nuts with everything malachite in my life

@DS2006 I am sure you are aware of this gorgeous combo, although I am not a white gold gal (doesn't look good on me), I just love the look of this combo. so beautiful, elegant. Maybe you are not a big fan of dangling earrings, but maybe, just maybe for your magic pendant.

Those are beautiful! I wish they came in two motif like the yg mop version, though! I’d love to have the long Magic 16 with those stones!!!!

:hugs:Even though I love my pave VA and Frivole pendants, it’s when I wear my magic pendants I feel somewhat invincible. The silhouette is so simple yet so darn pretty.
