Vintage Coach Size Comparison Guide -Low Chat, Only On Topic Posts

I'm considering replacing my Beaumont satchel with a Baxter or a Broadway. Does anyone happen to own a Beaumont and one or both of the other two and can you please provide comp shots with the Beaumont? Does anyone have any feedback on the Baxter or Broadway? My Beaumont is just too small so I'm looking to upgrade. I love the size of the Baxter but I'm not sure about the handles. The Broadway looks to be longer than my Beaumont and I like the rolled handles so I'm leaning that way but I think the Baxter might be better size wise and I like its shape.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Can someone post a comparison of a Vintage Penny, Pocket 9755 and Convertible Clutch beside each other?
thank you
I might have done a Pocket and a CC already. Is there such a thing as a vintage Penny? I don’t believe so, per Hyacinth and there isn’t one in any vintage catalogs I have.
Edited okay scratch that, I did the full on side by side of the City and CC and just a pic of the fronts of a Pocket and CC. Somebody already did a side by side of a Pocket and a CC.

Late to seeing this but I did 2 posts that showed the CC & PP in frame together. I no longer have my CC so I can’t create any new posts. Here are the links to both my posts in this thread:

For @Paris Girl:

Collegiate 9815 & Regina 9983

I know I was supposed to compare the Collegiate to the Scooter but truthfully it sold quicker than I had anticipated & the Collegiate rehab was still in progress at the time. I didn’t wanna delay shipping the Scooter to it’s new owner so my bad for not being able to do the original comp lol! I know you have a rainbow of Reginas though so here is a comp between the Collegiate & the Regina for you. They both fit about the same amount of stuff Id say. The slip pockets on the Collegiate are also super convenient & its so cute! 11/10 would recommend!

Thanks a bunch! That’s a big help. Love the pockets in the Collegiate.

I’ve got Beaumont and Broadway satchels. I’ll take some photos when 8 have some good light. The Broadway is quite a bit larger than the Beaumont.

Item: Tango Flap Bag 9049, Dark Brown with Silver (Costa Rica, 1998)
Seller: Thrift Store, $19.51
Dimensions: 6" high, 7" wide, 2.5" deep

Comments: Please give an opinion about authenticity, thank you.

I've never seen a Tango bag IRL and I hesitated to buy this one because the reverse side of the female portion of the turnlock is different from most of my vintage Coach bags but the male portion is fine. Also because I am used to seeing brass hardware with dark brown (mahogany?) classic coach bags. On top of all that the hangtag is missing so I almost took a pass, but the bag just "felt right to me" so I decided to take a chance.

I've looked at ebay and some of the other online auction sites and I've seen bags that look just like mine and some that have the traditional hardware so I don't know what to think. I would greatly appreciate benefiting from your expertise, thanks!

This is from the Holiday 1998 catalogue, the one with the Frasier dog on the cover.

What an adorable bag, K! Do you think it is large enough to fit a cell phone and a couple of essentials? TIA! :flowers:
I came a cross a Tango in a thrift store a while back. I wasn’t interested in buying, but it was discussed at that time. It crops up here for discussion periodically. So to check, I put my cell phone in it and it closed with no problem, but it was def the max height -eta or close to- it could accommodate without straining it to close. I just measured my phone, with cover it is 5 7/8 inches. Iirc it would probably also accommodate a packet of tissues and a lipstick, but not much else!
Lol do you use a phablet?

As promised, here is a size/capacity comparison of my recently acquired Mahogany and Nickel Tango Flap Bag 9049 (Costa Rica, 1998).

I've used a British Tan and Brass Scooter Bag 9893 (USA, 1995) for the comparison and my overall opinion is that the Scooter is a little roomier but that they are similar, small, lightweight, crossbody bags designed to easily carry "just the essentials".

(I haven't rehabbed the Tango yet so it still looks a bit rough and it's missing the hangtag.)

First, here are catalog photos and descriptions of both bags that were graciously provided by my fellow Coachies, thanks!

Here are the capacity comparison photos of the Scooter Bag 9893 and the Tango Flap Bag 9049, see above for side-by-side size comparison photos of both bags.

The contents I've chosen for both bags include: mask, tissues, card case containing a few cards and cash, iphone 11 Pro Max, comb, lipstick, and sunglasses.

A couple of comments, I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max which is a large smart phone. It measures 6.5" by 3.25" so both bags would be roomier if you prefer to carry a smaller phone, but I was able to close both bags with this large phone inside.

The Tango has a full size slip pocket on the back and a floating slip pocket inside the bag. The Scooter has a full slip pocket under the flap but no additional pockets. With the Scooter, my phone fit both inside the front slip pocket and also inside the body of the bag. With the Tango I could put my phone both in the back slip pocket and inside the bag and it closed but it was at maximum.

Again, my overall opinion is that the Scooter is a little roomier but that they are similar, small, lightweight, crossbody bags designed to easily carry "just the essentials".

Thanks so much, K! I didn't realize how tiny it was, but both are so adorable!

They are very cute, and convenient to wear when you are exercising, walking, bicycling, etc. Or when attending a fair, or carnival, or exhibition because they are so easy to carry and lightweight, but they truly are designed for just the essentials.

@BeenBurned once gave me some great advice and I've used it often. She said to "take a pen, a ruler, and a piece of paper and draw out the dimensions of a bag to help decide if it will work for you." Wise words!

BTW, I've come across several Scooter 9893 bags over the years and I've now gathered quite a collection, see below: (L-R) Navy, Red, British Tan, and Bottle Green. They were all made in the USA in the early 1990s and I've only spent a total of $80 for all 4 bags.

This recent Marie Claire article is all about the joys of going hands-free and using a red Scooter bag to carry just the necessities during a pandemic!

Which do you personally prefer?

Which do you personally prefer?

I haven’t moved out of my Collegiate since getting it so Id have to say the Collegiate lol! To be fair though, I don’t really use my Regina because it’s in near mint shape & I don’t wanna ding it up! I did recently buy a cheap beater Regina that I’ll be rehabbing & keeping for normal use. The one pictured here is for special occasions only!
