I nabbed a dark brown Willis on Ebay this morning for $30 incl. shipping. The creed pic is cut off, but the seller is reputable and will take it back, no questions asked, if upon posting it here it's deemed fake.

Sure, it looks a bit rough now, but the structure is sound, so all it needs is cleaning and some redyeing on the corners, then conditioning and polishing.

Anxiously awaiting its arrival!

I have a green station bag but the strap is too long for my 5'2 height. Any strap recommendation?
If you care about the resale value, don’t cut the strap, especially on a relatively rare green vintage bag. Right now colorful “guitar straps” are in, and there are many places on the internet where you can get them. For the webbing type straps, check out strapworks.com.

Have you considered taking it to a cobbler or handbag repair person for shortening instead?

One option is to carry it crossbody and not as a shoulder strap.

Or can you unbuckle the strap into 2 pieces or is it one continuous piece of leather? Sometimes you can double-up detachable straps, see the arrangement that I use on my suede Honey Borough at the link below:

You may find that with a dunk and good conditioner you won't need to recolor the corners.

Thank you everyone for the feedback! I'll consider all options. My strap is not adjustable. Its made in the 1980s! I love it :)

My suggestion would also be for wearing it crossbody. You'd be surprised how useful that can be, as I found out when my right shoulder where I'd always carried my bags started to have nerve and muscle problems because of 40 years of carrying fairly heavy handbags, and I had to switch all my bags to the left shoulder and carry them crossbody. It also was a lifesaver when I broke an ankle and was on crutches for almost 8 weeks, trying to manage a bag that keeps wanting to slide off your shoulder while swinging around a pair of crutches is a major PITA. Having at least one bag that can be carried crossbody to keep both your hands completely free is a Good Thing, as Martha Stewart would say.

You think so?? I'll certainly give it a try... I was going to dunk it anyway, but it seems that the dye is totally worn off. I hope your prediction holds true, though, as I don't have any dark brown dye in my arsenal at the moment and wasn't keen on buying any for a one-off project. (Not a big fan of brown, so only have 2 or 3 items to match it.) I'll post the results next month!

Yay! (I hope) Scored a mini(?) lightweights bucket bag in my own country of all places today. Not a fan of light colours, so I'll be dyeing this one oxblood or purple. The leather is solid and the creed looked good, so fingers crossed it's a hit in the end.

I'd been waiting for the seller to come back w/ measurements, and since she couldn't find a measuring tape, I asked her for a pic w/ a pop can for reference. Based on the pic below, I believe this to be the mini 4070 rather than the full size 4075.

My first bag from Italy, courtesy of the boss, when I asked her what the reason for this gift was she told me "Ellie coming back to work now that her foot is better was a reason to celebrate."I told her Ellie would be much happier with a milk bone then a handbag, so she turnes around fish's a milk bone out of her pocket and hands it to a ecstatic Ellie.

I'm awfully glad she got it tho, after my mistaken impression around Christmas. How could I have ever thought that these bags would be like those legacy willises.:amazed:
