I actually got it on eBay. It’s pretty dirty, but I think will rehab nicely. I snatched it quickly for $86. Almost the maximum I’ll pay for a bag but since it’s been on my wishlist I’ll took the plunge. Definitely a keeper!!
That is exactly what I paid too. $86 with shipping, the highest I've paid for a vintage Coach, and the only vintage bag I would have paid that much for!

Don't you hate when that happens? I swear every time I buy something, the next day one shows up in better condition and cheaper.
This typically happens to me on keychains/fobs or hang tags. I always worry I've overpaid but as it turns out, the bags I've purchased either don't get listed that often, or I held out and got them for the cheapest I've seen them in the 5 or 6 months I have been looking.

Definitely has happened to me on keychains. I think I've gotten a great deal until a few days later when an even better deal shows up.

I've paid over $100 for vintage bags and I didn't regret it.
Oh I am not saying there are items that are not truly worth their price by their condition and scarcity. I hope I didn't come across like that. I'm just talking about my own personal budget! It ended up that the styles I liked were either mostly common and relatively cheap or I held out long enough to get one for cheap. I will admit that I because I was not allowing much budget per bag, some of mine are not pristine.

I try to keep my vintage buys under $100, but have gone over it 3 times: UA Stewardess bag already rehabbed, Pony bag and now the Sherbourne. I got a bit more permissive on price when I saw Kohls charging $120 for vinyl bag I don’t think Vera Wang ever touched. I am more excited when I can score them low.

I have reached a stage in life where I don't worry about paying a lot for something if I feel the item is actually worth it, but there is hardly anything anymore that I feel is worth its price. It doesn't matter what it is. It could be a pair of shoes, a rare book, a painting, or most recently, used vintage bags. I need to get over this phase, I hope that is all it is because it's like it prevents me from buying the best of anything. There have been times I've told myself I have to increase my budget to get better condition bags but then I cannot bring myself to spend over 50 bucks on something I cannot touch and feel first and make sure it is the color I want, fits, and is not damaged etc.

I think that once you spend more and it turns out to be a good experience, the next time you are more willing to spend. I've gotten so that when I am looking at new bags, I consider anything around $300 or under a good price and don't worry as much about waiting for a sale as I used to. It used to be that I considered $300 to be a fortune. There are people on the forum where that set point is a lot higher. They only agonize about purchases that are in the thousands.

I remember when I was a kid and got money for birthday or Christmas or whatever, I'd be at the store wanting to spend that money so bad but absolutely could not figure out what to buy that wouldn't be wasting it. So I ended up not buying anything at all and going without the stuff I really wanted. That got worse through school years when I went shopping for school clothes if I were spending my own money, and all through college and hasn't let up even now that I'm 40 and making more money I could have ever dreamed of making. I guess it's just me but sometimes even $10 feels like a lot of money.

I used to look for cheap...still do really...but with the shipping costs I sort of feel that Im spending buckets anyway in shipping..might as well make the bag worth it.
Cheapest bag Ive bought was the taft for US$30...about NZ$49...but the total cost with shipping and taxes was NZ$128...I try to keep it around NZ $100...but have not been trying very hard lately.
And I have regretted none of them.
