OK, after reading this I was in the area so I excitedly went to Pilgrim, and I have to say, I was shocked at how rude they were! The two men in there treated me like I had no idea what I was looking at and told me that new bags (which I own!) were more expensive then they are in reality. The owner kept saying a new mini cost over 4k, so theirs which are similar to current retail prices, were actually much less. When I wasn't even objecting to price, I was just asking because I was interested in buying! It was pretty bizarre.

Anyway, yes they have so meticulous vintage bags but wow prepare yourselves for going in. I really hope I just walked in on the wrong day!!

I had a similar experience here. I was also turned off by their very used Hermes cdc and kd bracelets for over retail. Really??

Yikes, that sucks to hear about Pilgrim. I'd still strongly recommend A Second Chance resale (and you can see almost their whole inventory and prices on their website). I've only had good, unpretentious service at both of their locations and they have a wide range of Chanel bags. I think the Upper East one had a slightly larger inventory, but both are worth visiting.

they have the only best bags from the best dealer in paris, no consignment. most unused and rare and couture bags. I've been a customer for 6 years. I have no idea where you get your information. They deal in real handmade Chanel. If you go to Chanel now a machine made mini bag 2.55 in NYC is 4800. They sell a handmade pristine bag made by 23 craftsmen for $2600. It's the best place in New York City for Chanel and other designer bags in pristine condition.

Pilgrim is the only place that has a contract with a dealer connected to Chanel paris. They deal in handmade and the best quality bags that are made by 23 craftsmen. Gold plated hardware, not the cheap ruthenium hardware on machine made bags. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. It's obvious you didn't ask the right questions. The gentlemen here are Gentlemen. Truly experts. Never had a problem. They are the best Vintage Chanel dealers in New York and listed in Vogue Magazine. A mini machine made bag ruthenium plated is $4800 at Chanel. Here, handmade with real goldplating and handmade again! $2600. You can hardly compare. If you were rude, then I'm sure you were treated rudely. I am not a rude person so I get treated well and have 5 Chanel bags from here along with a Couture Chanel jacket.

Hi there,

You need to visit A Second Chance on 77th and Lexington Avenue. I was there last week and the store is quite well stocked with vintage Chanel. I understand their other store, located in SOHO, also carries a lot of Chanel, amongst other designers. Google their website to look at a small selection of their stock pre-trip. Good luck.
Go to Pilgrim New York. Not designer resale! Handmade REAL quality Chanel and direct from a dealer in Paris. They are in Vogue Magazine. They deal with celebrities and are very very lovely gentlemen. The negatives on here are from people that dont' know chanel boutique from buying a bag at Bloomingdales. It's not the same quality at all. These guys are experts and authenticate for Barneys Vintage Chanel and other stores. Really? I'm disturbed to see negative comments on here that are not only false but just not right in their advice at all. I've seen fake Chanel bags in every consignment store because they often don't know real from fake especially good Korean fake bags. Most of the consignment stores here listed I've been to on the Upper East Side and seen Fake marc jacobs, Fake Prada, Fake Hermes and Fake Chanel bags on there sales floors! Please. Get your facts straight.

Hi all,

I'm going to NYC next month and am hoping to buy my second Chanel bag! (Thinking probably a flap although I'm fairly open-minded.) Can anyone recommend the best vintage or consignment shops to check out, hopefully ones with reasonable prices? (I've been spoiled since my first bag was bought at the Paris boutique, and I saved over $1000 by buying it there!)

Thank you!!
Go to the only store that does not do consignment and does not have designer resale bags that were on sale because nobody wanted them. The classic handmade Chanel bags in pristine condition can only be had at Pilgrim New York. I have 5 bags and a few Chanel dresses and a jacket that is 2008 Couture collection. consignment stores often don't even bother to know how to authenticate bags. These guys authenticate for several online websites and Barneys' New York and are in Vogue Magazine. I completely trust them as do most people who know real authentic goods.

you should try pilgrim nyc on orchard street. they always have tons of chanel jewelry and about 50 mint and unused vintage authentic Chanel bags in store. You can google them! Best of luck, shopping!! I've bought 3 Chanel bags from them. All are amazing.
Definitely Pilgrim for best bags of real handmade quality. And completely guaranteed Authentic.

I've never been treated badly at Pilgrim and have been going there for 6 years. They have the best Chanel of any store. Even in Paris and they don't do consignment or sale bags of designer resale Chanel from stores like Nordstrom that nobody wanted at full price in the first place. They carry the bags that everyone wants and are impossible to get.

they sell handmade pre 1995 Chanel. Quite a difference from the machine made not gold plated bags you see now. Unless you are buying Collection, which I suspect most people here can't get their hands on a collection bag because they never reach the sales floor!

The best consignment store for Chanel is A Second Chance located at 1109 Lexington Avenue. Vintage buyers from London and Paris visit the store regularly, it really is that good :smile1:
