I know I’ve said this before, but I gotta stop buying from VC

Few weeks back, I bought a rare bag. Was so excited. Only to be disappointed when the seller cancelled 12 hrs later when they apparently sold it privately from their Instagram account (found the posts, the comments, the buyer & the SOLD! - all 8+ hrs after I bought & paid for it on VC)

Now, a different seller cancels a purchase with the lame excuse they can’t drop off the prepaid package (funny how that’s never been a problem for this seller before who has 46 sales & other items currently listed). Then they relist the same item for $100+ more

VC’s response is the “seller will be negatively impacted”. I ask how, when they’ve apparently done this NINE times before? VC’s response? “Due to our tools limitation, we do not have access to take down the seller's listing or deactivate her account because we do have an internal process on this. I can assure you that I have already taken note on this so that our experts review the account. I can assure you that we have an internal process on this and I have already taken down notes on here so that our experts will review their account due to their unusual behavior.”

So sellers who act unprofessionally get a stern talking to while those who sell rare, authentic merchandise find their sales cancelled & charged to have their items returned?

Ugh Im sorry, that all sounds awful. My biggest pet peeve is when sellers cancel an order because they got a higher offer, or because they think they can get more. It's so rude.

I just received my first ever purchase from Vestiaire just about 15 minutes ago- I had a good experience, I bought a suit by Petar Petrov and it's in perfect condition. The seller was communicative and helpful, so I am happy with how that went at least! Hoping if I buy anymore stuff from Vestiaire that it goes smoothly.

Thats why despite my bad experiences I keep coming back. I have had some good ones. Its just lately they’ve been more bad than good ☹️

And now the THIRD purchase in a row I’ve made has been cancelled.
I purchased this last Friday. On Tuesday, I asked the seller about shipping. She apologized and said she was on vacation & forgot to mark it, but would be shipping “this Friday”. Well thats today — no response to my messages and it hasn’t shipped (its 10pm in Germany — she’s not shipping today). VC says it will automatically cancel tomorrow

Three crappy sellers all still selling on that platform because VC won’t do anything more than “warn” them & “negatively impact” them :cursing:

So update
The seller of this last item, marked the item shipped on Saturday before VC could cancel. Then they didn’t actually ship it out until today. This was VC’s response. (a slap on the wrist)

I understand that may have doubts with the behavior of the seller, and we appreciate you for raising this to us. No worries, we have now documented this to our system, so that our higher department could monitor the seller's behavior accordingly.

I have been in search of a specific Louis Vuitton capucines that came out last year (i think) and was basically impossible to get. I have been searching for this bag online ever since I discovered it and finally saw one for sale on VC from a seller in Europe. I purchased bag and received a notice from VC that upon receipt of the bag for inspection, they deem it authentic but that it is not exactly as appears in original listing.

One thing noted is that invoice is missing (though seller claims to have) and they provided photographs with about 5 areas circled (a couple on leather along bottom and a few of hardware) they claim is "discolored". Its hard for me to really tell what they're referring to and have requested a more detailed description. I informed seller and she says bag is brand new and perfect and that she'll gladly take it back and sell elsewhere.

I'm attaching the photos and report provided by VC. I have to either accept or reject the item by tomorrow (1am Monday). I really want the bag and after searching for over a year to no avail, was so excited to find it. I
can try to overlook very minor flaw(s), but it wasn't inexpensive and i don't want visible imperfections.

Do you see what they're talking about and do you think noticeable enough to "reject" the bag or minor enough that it won't really be noticeable if I accept it? I'm inclined to accept bc who knows if or when another one will come along.

It is difficult to see exactly the flaws that they are referring to so I hope they'll come back to you with a definitive response and clear photos.

It seems that they have given the bag a thorough examination and found some issues which do appear to be relatively small, considering that all bags, including new, can have some hardware scratches/spots/fading and lightening of the leather on corners and edges etc depending on storage conditions.

They haven't mentioned the interior, or the handle, and that's good news because often the interior and handle shows signs of wear from just one use so that backs up the seller's claim that the bag is new.

As long as the leather isn't stained or worn, and the hardware has minimal flaws, then it's a matter of deciding whether the price is comfortable for you, whether you want only a pristine bag, also factoring in rarity and "what the heart wants".

Thank you for replying! I have given up hearing from VC and need to decide whether to accept or reject. I just realized i need to decide by 7pm today, not tomorrow. When I first received message about an issue, my heart sank. I was so disappointed at the thought that the bag wasn't authentic. Are there "super-fakes" of this bag out there?

I hate not really knowing what the imperfections are but I know all bags may have some minor imperfections. My gut tells me to accept because I would probably prefer the bag with a couple of very minor flaws (so long as they really are very minor) versus not having it at all. If it was a different bag that was more readily available or likely to come on the resale market, I may feel differently.

It seems this bag was sold and then returned to the seller by VC (allegedly without an explanation). She mentioned it was a US buyer tat didn't work out but she didn't know why. Now i can only assume that they received same report after "authentication" process and chose to reject bag without seeing it. I really want to see it in person but supposedly cannot return if I do accept and find flaws unacceptable. I suppose I could always dispute with credit card but its a gamble since they were upfront about that. I'm just hoping I will love the bag I've thought about for over a year now!

If the bag has already been rejected once, I’m not sure why you as the next buyer would be required to accept.
To me, the inability to examine in person and the limitations on returns would give me pause. Good luck with whatever you decide. there are instances where Amex platinum does not provide ironclad protection to buyers, so I would not want to count on this to rectify a situation that has gone south. However, I do not have much experience with returns or this reseller.

Thank you. I only know about the other deal bc I was trying to buy this and was devastated when she accepted an offer she assumed was from me but was another buyer. I couldn't believe it when I saw it available again so I texted seller to inquire if she had another of same bag or syart and she replied that the bag was returned to her by VC and she didn't know why. Now that I received the authenticity report, I can only assume that the first buyer received same report with option to "accept" or "reject" and chose to reject, hence it was sent back to seller. I am not being forced to accept the bag, I am being given the option based on their findings but it seems to me maybe they're just being very particular?

We'd love to see a photo of the bag once you receive it. Hopefully, the flaws mentioned are very minimal and you'll be really happy with your new acquisition.
Thank you, i am hoping for the same thing! Getting this bag has been quite a journey (long story) so i hope i love it. I will definitely share photos upon arrival but may not be for a bit bc I'm traveling.

Its really incredible the difference in the inspections of VC

I purchased a bag a few months ago that was described as having “some minor discoloration, but overall clean” and the bag was so badly stained. The main section & every interior pocket that was lined was stained about 3 inches from the opening. It was awful. You could see the seller deliberately cropped one photo to show one small stain, but it was the whole bag. Yet it passed VC's inspection. I fought with VC for days after they allowed me to return the bag for re-evaluation. They insisted they stuck by their initial assessment that the bag matched the seller's photos and description. After almost a week, they finally gave in & issued a refund.

That bag is STILL listed for sale on VC’s website (they updated the description but not the photos)

And now to see this small amount of wear they flagged on your purchase. I’ve also had sales cancelled where they found the tiniest bit of wear that I not only described but showed in pics. Buying/Selling with them really is a crapshoot

I have never had a bad experience with VC. In this case, the seller said this item was new/unused. She seemed surprised by any findings and offered to accept a return. She seemed so confident, she refused to even offer a discount, saying she will simply sell it elsewhere. I can't wait to see it in person but had a good enough vibe to take the risk.
