Hi all,

I always admired the Alhambra line, but I only have one piece so far; the Sweet Alhambra PG Carnelian bracelet.
I don't live close to a boutique, so I can only visit when travelling.
I always loved the idea of a 10 motif, but I never tried one on so far.
Now I've heard that there is another price increase coming, I am considering to finally take the plunge next week if the 10 motif suits me. I was thinking Carnelian. I like the Letterwood too, but I think Carnelian would be a better choice for me to match with my bracelet, and because it adds a 'pop' to every outfit. I wear a lot of neutral outfits, but I wear colours as well. I have dark hair and eyes. I have several pearl necklaces, that's why I wanted to go for a bit more color for a 10 motif ;).
Do you think Carnelian would be a good choice? And I did a search but couldn't find an answer for Carnelian; does the stone keeps its color or will it darken over time?

I also would like to hear recommendations about nice SA's in Paris. Anyone knows a nice SA at VCA?
I went to Paris last December (didn't had much time for shopping though) and I made a quick stop at VCA Lafayette or Printemps (can't remember which of the two it was), but my experience there was not exactly positive to be honest.
So I hope perhaps anyone here can recommend a friendly SA in Paris? And does anyone here by any chance have the email address of VCA at Place Vendome in Paris?
Because I am looking for a true, deeper red carnelian, not orange. Perhaps a SA can send me pics of what they have so that I can pick one before going to Paris.

I've read in the VCA thread that people sometimes do down payments before a price increase to secure the old price and pick it up a few weeks later...is this still possible?

Thank you so much for reading and I apologize for all the questions (and my English, English isn't my first language). I am still quite a newbie when it comes to VCA purchases :p.

I am not aware of Carnelian having any issues with darkening over time. I don't believe this is the case.

Both Carnelian and letterwood are absolutely beautiful and would function in much the same way I think. The advantage of carnelian is that, depending on what it's worn with, Carnelian can both provide a pop of color or act as an earthy neutral.

One other consideration is whether you prefer pink gold or yellow gold. VCA's pink gold is subtle and can be worn easily with yellow gold, but there is definitely a difference... and the pink gold is much warmer. I find that the yellow gold looks better on me, personally, and that would be a big factor in my decision if I were the one considering these two choices. Other ladies find the exact opposite.

I do have a couple of SA's that I have worked with in Paris, but I can't think of their names right now. When I am back at home tomorrow I will get that information for you!

Thank you so much for your reply, hopingoneday.
I do have the pink gold Sweet Alhambra Carnelian bracelet, and it's very subtle indeed.
I have a slight preference for pink gold, but wouldn't mind the yellow gold on the carnelian.
I just spoke with a very helpful and lovely lady from their online customer service, and she recommended I should definitely try the Letterwood as well.
Right now, I am still leaning towards Carnelian, especially also because you said it can provide a pop, but it can serve as a neutral as well. But who knows...if they have the Letterwood in stock...maybe I will fall in love with that one.

Hi Chanel,
I tried to send you a PM, but it does not go through. There is a nice SA at Galeries Lafayette. Please PM me if you want her e-mail. :)

Hi dear, I actually received your PM and sent you a reply :smooch:.

I must say I am pretty excited now my first 10 motif is coming closer and closer...
I was debating between a 10 motif, a Cartier Just Un Clou bracelet, or a Tiffany Tanzanite diamond ring.
But I already found out that Tanzanite is not the best stone for an everyday ring and the Cartier Just Un Clou is nice, but the VCA is more classic and elegant.
I am going to try on a Just Un Clou tomorrow, but I think I already decided that I prefer a 10 motif :D.

I think a 10 motif in carnelian would look absolutely gorgeous on you! Excited to see your new purchase soon! :smile1:

Thank you dear, that's so sweet of you to say :hugs:.

I am afraid my VCA purchase will be delayed because something unexpected happened at Hermès today and I did some other damage :blushing:.
The VCA necklace will always be there (only more expensive), but the Hermès bag wouldn't... so sometimes a girl needs to choose :p.

Oooh! Hermes! That's exciting! I totally understand and get you! Yes H doesn't come by everyday and the VCA can wait. Do share what was your H surprise?? 😄 So happy for u!

I am planning to buy some pieces very soon and it seems that Canada prices are much cheaper than US prices. For example, I am currently interested in the frivole necklace which is currently at $9900 USD. But it is at $11500 CAD (which seems to be around $8350 USD under the current conversion rate)

Are there any other charges on top of that price in Canada price? like taxes?
Or are there any tax refund available for travelers? :)

Also, while I was searching, I saw that stocks can be limited.
Do you have any SA recommendation that I can start talking with?
My husband is visiting Vancouver soon, so I would like to give him a mission! :D

Due to the weak Canadian dollars, plus 12% taxes still cheaper than us prices,Vancouver just open a independent vca store inside Birks(a famous jewelry store in Canada)last month, and has lots of stocks,I recommend Jill,a really nice lady.

For Vancouver, you'll have to add 12% sales tax.

AFAIK, there are no tax refunds unfortunately  unless you take certain tour packages (I think).

Thank you so much, Storm Spirit and joy1231! When I checked it at Van Cleef Canada website, it says that the price shown there is already including VAT. Should I still add 12% sales tax on top of that price? :)
joy1231, do you have any contact information? :)
Thank you in advance!

You're welcome! :D The "including VAT" price is for the UK - I don't think VCA bothered updating their website for other countries, so you'll need to add sales tax on top.
